EINE • Scary Prints & Canvas, by HowAboutNo on Feb 26, 2008 16:41:49 GMT 1, Have we decided on the edition size here? I was told it was a one off when I got offered it. Then it was an edition of 3, now above an edition of five, with one person having a (claimed) one off as well?
In general, does anyone get miffed by this sort of vagueness about 1 off v. editioned canvasses
Am sure a lot of artists do it by slightly altering original pieces and creating a completely new run, which is fair enough if there are substantial changes.
To say "it was done by hand so is a 1/1 anyway" isnt relevant, all the prints are done by hand and they will all be slightly different, and they certainly aren't all numbered as one off's.

When were you offered it as a one-off HowAboutNo?
Mine is definitely one of 5 (no.3), dated 2007.
I was pretty sure though that I'd seen a photo of a Scary in the framed pics section some time not long after I first registered in November (a few weeks back while the above was still on its way to me I even asked if anyone knew where the pic was as I wanted to refer to it for framing ideas).
Right now you've made me a bit curious as to whether the photo I'm certain I saw was one of the edition of 5 or whether it was another one-off canvas or maybe a print (was there ever a print version of SCARY?).
Otherwise, fair point about confusion with editioned canvasses although it should really be much more clear cut in the case of SCARY as there's no scope for different colourways.

EINE • Scary Prints & Canvas, by gozgoz on Feb 28, 2008 19:01:39 GMT 1, I was wondering if someone could explain the allure of Eine? It just seems bit simple and plain to me. Not knocking on anyone. i just want to know why. Just that it looks like i could produce this with a font on photoshop or something.
Ami missing something?
again, im not flaiming anyone or anything. i know pple on this board can get particularly (and overtly) defensive.

I fooken love my Vandals, eh. It's like a piece of London street art history. Brilliant. A lot of prints are but Eine's the real deal. Born and bred. Quite chuffed to have an honest ground roots east lunden piece of art that will always remind me long after I leave this part of the world of the best art gallery there is. The outdoor variety.
for me its uncompromising simple and very beautifull, this is what he does,

You really have to see some of his pieces in real life to see how filthily grungey they are - there's no way you can produce the effect he makes with photoshop (look at the individual letters on the Scary above).
It doesn't hang on the wall it looms there

The edition of 5 is actually a lot bigger than that - 122 x 122cm! Monster.

Good stuff, Jed. Stella are great to deal with, certainly one of the best for making sure the customer is satisfied. No doubt Ben will be a great help too, as I can't see him being happy having a damaged painting out there if he can do something to rectify it. Let us know how you get on.
