I have a strong appreciation for Sage's work as well. He has a very loyal following over here in the states. It's kinda nice collecting an artist who hasn't crossed over to the UK yet. Good on him. He deserves all the attention.

When i went out to LA i went to the private view before the private view (doesn't make any sense at all:).

It was mainly family, friends, etc. Only a handful of people. I spent about an hour talking to his Nan!

His sister was there too...all VERY cool people to speak to and SO different from Sage.

It isn't my place to talk about Sage's past, but i think it's pretty common knowledge. The guy has turned his life around massively. He could well of ended up dead!

We took Sage and his wife, plus the guys from his gallery to dinner at Asia De Cuba. Talking to his wife was a real eye opener...they literally know anyone who's anyone in LA BUT they are not into that scene at all. Very quiet people, don't go out, etc. Sage doesn't drink anymore, so i suppose that's partly the reason why.

Very unassuming people...down to Earth. He must of thanked me 100 times for flying out to his show. He couldn't actually believe that someone would fly across the World to see his show.

In my humble opinion, an artist that people should take an interest in, even if you don't buy his work. Just a joy to look at and someone that IMO will be around for many, many years to come.

Great piece Andrew, I still cant work out if I prefer the Wildlives or Wildlife work. Love them both really, like an earlier post I agree its good that he still hasn't really crossed over here to the UK yet. I think his fan base is building up slowly and surely, as you have said his success is well deserved.

I really like this print too. Something sinister about it though I feel (hidden behnd the intial upfront beauty of the bird). No sure if that's what it's about but but certainly my original thoughts!
