Banksy by Fragile book, by Lroy on Sept 25, 2024 18:39:30 GMT 1, But who is fragile really ? The official unofficial photographer of Banksy or the unofficial official photographer of Banksy. From Birmingham. Both love Glastonbury. but he was not the only one tooโฆ Laz, Jeremy G., aka Romanywg took this super Zorro per example โฆ
Itโs funny, since a while, Banksy did not credited any photographers on his site. Why ? Some may know, not me.
Well, in fact, nobody knows a lot apart Banksy community..

Banksy by Fragile book, by met on Sept 26, 2024 14:52:03 GMT 1, Courtesy heads‑up
Packaging‑related post to follow.
While it may be of interest to some, its clinical nature is likely to exasperate others.
Non‑nerds are therefore advised to just scroll to the next post.
__________
A packaging success story
Check out the sweet, sharp corners on this recent purchase:
Insignificant to many normal people. And a most welcome, reassuring sight for obsessive‑collector types like myself.
This was a UK shipment that arrived yesterday via Evri.
__________
Initial impressions on packaging
The book wrap mailer came from Kite Packaging, size PP 3.
Along with the self‑seal, an extra piece of parcel tape was applied over the tear‑strip for additional security.
The cardboard was a bit thin compared to other book wrap mailers I've received in the past, but still seemed fit for purpose.
Tilting the parcel from side‑to‑side, the book could be felt shifting back and forth. Less than ideal. Nevertheless, I remained comforted by a photo I'd previously seen, showing that the new packaging included bubble wrap.
Thoughts after closer inspection
On one of the two width‑wise sides of the packaging, the internal flap was a distance of about 4‑5 cm from the edges โ leaving a decent amount of protective buffer space if the parcel had been dropped on those edges.
On the other side, however, the internal flap was only about 1 cm from the edges.
This feature will have occurred in transit. As the book was moving around in its packaging, the two internal flaps will have gradually been spreading further apart, and unevenly. During the course of its journey, the book will therefore have created an incrementally larger "wobble space" for itself within the packaging.
Minor suggestion for future parcels
I would reiterate the tip previously mentioned by 1nkling*, of taping down the internal flaps during packaging:
Like others have said, its a learning process. I've been shipping for various artists for nearly 20 years now and have had my fair share of shipping disasters along the way. Not all book wraps are made equal. Some are nice and sturdy, some are really flimsy. For heavy coffee table style books I tend to wrap them in jiffy foam before putting in the book wrap. I also tape across the inner flaps before fully shutting and taping the outer. That stops everything moving around inside or bursting out the ends. Still not fool-proof though as couriers chuck these things around for fun.
Between the flaps, the tape can be applied either directly to the bubble‑wrapped book, or (as shown below) to a piece of paper or post‑it note that is first added on top of the bubble wrap.
This will have two benefits:
(i) keeping the book more snug within its packaging, and less likely to shift around during transit; and
(ii) keeping the book more centred within its packaging, so that the buffer‑space distance between the packaged book and the edges of the mailer remains more even on both sides.
__________
Cheers to Retail Therapy Office and Fragile for taking customer feedback on board, and greatly improving their packaging.

Banksy by Fragile book, by Not 4 The Thril on Sept 27, 2024 0:19:00 GMT 1, Just chiming in from the United States - - - I have also yet to receive any information on shipping or notifications about my purchase since August 30th. Not stressing about it, I know I will receive the book. Just wanted to let others know as I think everyone outside the UK is in the same boat. Just following up with this-- nearly a month and still no word or movement on tracking to the United States. Anyone else?
EDIT: I purchased first edition signed and numbered.

Banksy by Fragile book, by Hubble Bubble on Sept 27, 2024 7:29:47 GMT 1, My first edition arrived (UK based) yesterday. Had been outside the door for a day in the rain but, apart from wet cardboard, the book itself was fine... probably saved by the more robust bubble wrap.
Looks a great product... can't wait to get stuck in to it.

*edit... or should that be 'hubble bubble wrap'
