Banksy by Fragile book, by thisisthesam on Sept 17, 2024 12:46:08 GMT 1, Quick update from the publisher that should hopefully reassure customers, particularly those abroad: "With regard to our packaging of the book. The packaging was sold as “A4 Cardboard Envelopes, Expandable Capacity Book Mailers, Rigid and sturdy.” We were advised by Royal Mail that they were more than adequate for the book. Given the issues raised with us we are purchasing more appropriate and heavy duty packaging. Especially as we start sending the books outside of the UK. We are a new business and a small team and are learning on the job. Please be patient." Just seen this on the official IG. Classy response.

Banksy by Fragile book, by kfroms on Sept 17, 2024 14:53:43 GMT 1, Met, I've had numerous books delivered in book mailers that have been damaged, so their efficacy is not 100%. My book is also dinked sadly. Sorry to hear about the damage to your copy. As a slight obsessive when it comes to condition issues (which I often claim is beyond my control), I sympathise and hope you receive a replacement book soon. My own experience with book wrap mailers has almost always been positive — at least when the correct size of mailer was used. When the latter were too large, the books were unfortunately prone to moving around inside their parcels, increasing the likelihood of arriving with dented corners. __________ I suppose this just requires finding a suitable balance, where the level of risk is deemed acceptable to Retail Therapy Office. With each packaging option considered, it's a case of weighing up: (a) the likelihood of damage occuring to the books during transit; and (b) the cost, time and effort of using that packaging option. For the dispatch of hundreds or possibly thousands of orders, I would still opt for book wrap mailers. But if far fewer orders had needed to be dealt with (e.g. just two or three dozen), I'd probably combine the book wrap mailers with some bubble wrap. Is it just me or should we keep a little perspective that it’s a 30 quid book not a £300 print The odd dong / ding wouldn’t worry me especially after I’d read the bloody thing For normal people, I would agree that your position is reasonable. Among collector types, you might be in the minority. Many collectors could be described as abnormal, subnormal, or (if you'll indulge the delusion) above normal. As with sevrin *, the cost of an item for me is irrelevant. This could be a £3 magazine, and I'd still be irked if one of its pages had a folded corner. But then, I'm also the kind of person who gets annoyed by uneven bubble wrap. You can sometimes find me in my kitchen with a straight edge and blade, taking crooked sheets of bubble wrap that arrived in mail parcels, and re‑cutting those sheets to make them straight again. I'll keep quiet about my routine when it comes to recycling, because otherwise you'd think I was nuts. Met, if you ever feel the urge to talk about that bubble wrap thing, just reach out.
and please do share your recycling routine.
we are here to help.

Banksy by Fragile book, by drip on Sept 17, 2024 15:26:22 GMT 1, I don't order that many books these days. They always seem to arrive damaged and there's only so much medication can do. And eventually the therapists stop taking your call.
It got to the point where, if I knew a book was on its way, I would put some cushions beneath my letterbox. Knowing full well that, even if the book HAD made its journey undamaged, the drop from my letterbox to the floor would undoubtedly smash its delicate edges in, and with it, also mine.
When I ordered my copy of Cut & Run, a few days later there was a knock at my door. Once I'd managed to move the cushions out of the way and opened it, I discovered that it was my rain-lashed postman, clutching a large, wet, and very empty envelope, a book-sized tear down its entire side.
As he handed me this obviously empty envelope, he said, "I don't know if there's supposed to be anything in that. Have a nice day."
No, no. Why would you suppose that envelope should have anything inside? That'll be that fresh air I ordered from Amazon. They do everything nowadays.
I later found my copy of Cut & Run in a puddle down the road.
I wish I was making this up, but I'm not.
The gods were with me and fortunately this time, my copy of Banksy By Fragile arrived in pretty good nick. Nothing I can't live with. A few minor bumps, but I think that adds character. Like syphilis on an old sailor's cock.
Anyway, worse things happen at sea, and I'm sure Fragile and his team will get on top of this. Can't fault their customer service from what I've seen. And in the meantime, those awaiting replacements can safely read their dinged copies while enjoying a coffee and a donut.

Banksy by Fragile book, by Daylight Robber on Sept 17, 2024 18:32:46 GMT 1, Can anyone who's read the text of the book and has a much better knowledge of Banksy's work than me explain the whole Athens thing please? Seems an extremely random thing both for Fragile to assume there'd be work to find there, and to just drop into the narration.

There’s a great artwork of him in the streets of Athens as well.

An exhibition is coming said Fragile, when he posted first for his book. We are still waiting anyway for the Gonefellow exhibition cancelled because of Covid.

Not stressing about it, I know I will receive the book. Just wanted to let others know as I think everyone outside the UK is in the same boat.
