Banksy 👑 "The Crown” Pub, Pilton, by Onket on Jan 25, 2024 17:05:56 GMT 1, I moved to London in 2000 and went to my first 'squat party' as we called them then, that summer. Never looked back. Think I went to my last one in 2010 just before my daughter was born and there were a good few years when I went literally every weekend. Did see a few stopped by old bill, unfortunately, but it's a bit easier on a Sunday afternoon when there's only about 100 stragglers left. The Olympics damaged the party scene quite severely and of course Hackney Wick is mostly redeveloped now. I see on Insta that the kids are still getting out pretty regular these days though. Good for them. ah yeah I used to go the raves in Hackney Wick, the one I remember most was in a meat slaughter factory, it was epic. Probably around the same time in 99-2000. I probably went to my last one in the early 2000s when a lot of the London clubs were thriving and then went for the slightly more sanitised nights out at the End, Fabric, Turnmills and Bagleys. I just couldn't keep up with the pace of some of the squat raves especially as most went on for days and had an unlimited supply of cheap drugs. Ha ha. We woukd have been in those places at the same time. Great days. 👍

Banksy 👑 "The Crown” Pub, Pilton, by Art Attackkk on Jan 25, 2024 19:48:26 GMT 1, That pub looks great. If you aren’t near the West Country, a couple more options on the East coast as follows:
www.suffieldarms.com/art/
www.theguntonarms.co.uk/
Both are owned by the same art dealer and there are some great pieces on display including Emin, Hirst, Rego etc. And you always have the option of catching crabs in Cromer nearby too, so that’s a bonus 😉

Banksy 👑 "The Crown” Pub, Pilton, by PC Baby on Jan 25, 2024 20:09:25 GMT 1, I love this thread ! Thanks to the poster. Informations, links, beautiful photos and stories from members, each thread should be like this : informative, ludicrous, curious, well a conversation between gents and ladies ! And musicians ! The owner of the pub invited me to pass with a kind message ( I told him that they don’t ship to Europe ) « We hope you can visit too! hopefully one day we can welcome you in person! » it’s signed Kelly ( that’s a man of a woman ? ). Anyway if I make a trip to UK I will pass there ! To USB : it’s true that we would want to get all of them ! Splendid tees ! Yeah! TBH I'm already planning a visit towards the end of August, when I'll be in the vicinity - never been to 'Glasto' either, so might include a look-see there, too.
Oh, and thanks, Lroy & Friend

Banksy 👑 "The Crown” Pub, Pilton, by tiny poubelle on Jan 28, 2024 11:18:41 GMT 1, Long way to go for a pub lunch. Fair play. If you’re into music you could do Glastonbury and check this out before or after the festival. I don’t think I could handle Glastonbury anymore but the younger or more adventurous should definitely go and add this to your itinerary. It’s my intention to call in on the way to Glastonbury. This will be my 6th visit. Three times between 95 and 98, then three times between 2017 and now. I’m 50 this year. I think I walked 45 miles when I was on site last year. Yes it’s changed a lot since the first time I went but it’s also a lot safer than it was at the end of the 90s when tents were being looted and set on fire. It’s the highlight of my year. Can’t wait to get back.

Well, when all the nespapers ( I did not took links from the Daily Sun nor Murror are saying the same thing, rumor is true. Plus, we all know Banksy s love for Glastonbury Festival etc etc … The inside looks like a mini Walled off hotel, with local artists artworks. So, why not ? Then, everybody believes what he wants …

Banksy 👑 "The Crown” Pub, Pilton, by Lroy on Feb 7, 2024 14:52:15 GMT 1, So what exactly makes this a Banksy pub? Gossip and rumour. It’s a part of Banksy. Hiding his identity, mistery, etc Yes a part of Banksy history. Anyway most of the times ( despite the fact that all west country pinces and princess are staying quiet and shut the doors to rumor and gossip, respecting the secrecy and the man ), we have to reckon that a lot are not too much exaggerated and are near reality : while, per example, some were saying that IA in London was from him and it has never been confirmed )..,, i will go to this pub and drink a Banksy cocktail in memory of all these entertaining and exciting - real or fake - informations ! Vive le Banksy ! :-)

Banksy 👑 "The Crown” Pub, Pilton, by PC Baby on Sept 5, 2024 12:19:40 GMT 1, Thanks to Sam Am's thread & great pictures, I finally visited lovely Pilton and the Glastonbury area. After attending the Massive Attack gig on Clifton Downs and enjoying the whole mini festival vibe, it was no big leap to end up staying at 'The Crown' for a few nights. I mean, a beautifully appointed room above the pub for a long weekend, with 'open mike' and friendly staff and locals that embrace talking to a complete stranger (wouldn't get that in some places in Dorset, where they don't talk to 'newbies' for years), it didn't take much to persuade me!
And what a lovely place to stay, in a peaceful corner of the West Country (at least it was post Glasto!), with excellent beers & ciders on tap, great-tasting food (including meat-free options, even with all the trimmings of) a Sunday roast, a big pub garden with kids' play area in a far corner and a car-park at the rear. What more do you want.
A kind local even took me on a 2 1/2-hour extended ramble around Worthy Farm and most of the Glastonbury festival site area, before heading back to the pub for lunch. All in all, it is definitely well worth a visit and you'll find a beautiful jewel in The Crown!

Reminds me of the WOH, with surprises lurking around every corner - certainly a fabulous place just for the nourishment of the mind; and the food and drinks on offer are certainly worth a trip. Besides, as Jeezuz Jones Snr said, some lovely villages around there and Pilton has some very kind locals.
