New Invader show in Paris, by lukas01 on Dec 8, 2023 14:47:39 GMT 1, Good to see someone is still flying the flag for Urban art since Banksy seems to have hung up his spray can. You are right! Banksy, after the Glasgow exhibition (Jun 2023), December 2023, May 2024, September 2024, February 2025, 26, 27, etc., etc., has no longer done great things but has returned home!... It must be a very special artist! ;-))) (not Invader)

New Invader show in Paris, by Onket on Dec 8, 2023 23:04:32 GMT 1, True, but when you've published with HENI, some of your street credit is gone You may disagree with Invader going through Heni but what other way do you have, as a popular artist, to release open edition prints? Have all the logistics, the QA, support, without being Shepard Fairey and handling a team of dozens of persons The guy put art underwater, in the NY metro, at 4000m in Bolivia, in space (twice!). Got arrested multiple times, is banned from some countries... 4000 art pieces around the world on a 20+ years period How can one open edition release can touch his street credit? This may be true. But the Heni release was dogshit.

New Invader show in Paris, by Londown 01 on Dec 8, 2023 23:39:12 GMT 1, Point was it affected his street credit. Did it really? The HENI release was a pure cash grab: mediocre images, on shitty medium, totally overpriced. It's sole intention was to make money, at the expense of his fans/ collectors.
Depending on his bank balance, it might be sensible. And it doesn't destroy his reputation, but I think it's a small dent nonetheless

i just disagree a bit and I have already read that for some graffiti artists. Well it’s true that, in comparison with some lazy street-Artists ( we’ll say ), he is up on the ladder 🪜 everywhere. But first he likes that a lot, adrenaline and passion, he has money and likes to travel, he likes the streets and to put, to show his artworks in the streets, etc.. I adore him ( and I won’t speak - he does what he wants, it’s his life - about Oti or Heni, etc, he is a businessman too, and knows perfectly how to promote artworks etc..) . I like his talent, but I would not complain about graffiti, artists or street-artist’ ‘s life. Each true artists creates where he wants to show the world, and he makes the job. Some have not this chance.
I mean my friend, it's like some here praise the merits of graffiti artists like Tox10foot etc, painting in the cold etc, but it's the adventure, the joy of meeting each other, the adrenaline, the beers, showing people on the street , paint etc... Others do it in studios, they have chosen this way of life. I of course respect and admire, but pity them (as read here sometimes) no. Me too, I lived in squats, I'm a fan of nothing in London but I loved it, a lot. Freedom. And art.

New Invader show in Paris, by faute on Dec 9, 2023 15:25:30 GMT 1, I tend to agree with Lroy. What is street credibility and do we confuse it with « market credibility » here?
BANDO says It is actually really simple: The only true writers are those who steal or have stolen their paint and who are doing or have done illegal walls. Don’t get me wrong, once you have paid your graffiti dues, this “genuineness,” so to speak, can never be taken away. For example take Jonone. He has bombed NYC more than anyone back in the day. He was King of NY, and when you buy a Jon painting today you have all that graffiti blood, sweat and tears behind everything he does. It is a genuine piece of graffiti art, not some fake BS with no foundation.
So as long as you have paid your dues, you are real, and if you have not, you are a poser. I have nothing against people buying paint and doing only legal stuff. To each his own, but don’t call it graffiti. Call it by its true name: Street Art. www.mtn-world.com/en/blog/2023/10/03/there-are-too-many-graffiti-posers-an-interview-with-bando-the-parisian-pioneer/?topic=--graffiti
As a collector, I tend to disagree. You can be a true writer and sell a bad piece with no connection (to caricature you have 4 categories, connected with graffiti/street art and a great piece on its own, one or the other, or none). That make graffiti and street art, a different thing to collect.
This I like for example
https://www.instagram.com/reel/CtaSPQNJ83E It looks real. Like real people. Not trying to look cool. I don’t even know or care if legal. Heni prints did not change that to me. There were a lot of legends in Miami this week. But WTF. It did not look real to me.

New Invader show in Paris, by Acme Thunderer on Dec 11, 2023 20:10:46 GMT 1, That was a great in-depth article and well worth reading.
Interesting they reveal the new exhibition could be as early as January.
My favourite quote was… “A couple of years ago, Hirst sent Invader an e-mail asking if he wanted to collaborate on a series of N.F.T.s. Invader said no.”

( sorry for Invader fans ) I’ve got this FT magazine already as another good article. Some eBay sellers will only advertise on the UK site, so I will keep an eye out (there is none at the moment). If they don’t ship overseas then I can send to you. 😀

New Invader show in Paris, by stendhal on Dec 15, 2023 18:29:47 GMT 1, That is a very nice and deep article on his work. Mostly usufull to get to know his work if you do not already, which is surely the case for most Americans! Anyway, what a fine recognition when you know the quality of the New Yorker. Makes me think to the also very nice article earlier this year in the NYT. Go Invader!!!

New Invader show in Paris, by Lroy on Jan 9, 2024 21:06:10 GMT 1, Anyone have any personal recommendations for decent 4-5* hotels nearby? 4-5 * ? You don’t need any recommendations I guess ! It’s classy ones. Just look near the exhibitions. When I go back in Paris to see my kids, I’m gong in a hotel ** stars where I. Lived then, near Varda and cimetière Montparnasse, in the 14 th area and I pay 70 euros the night. well showers are in the stairs but it’s clean ! It makes me rember the Savoye hotel in WSM where I slept during my Dismaland travel ! And where B. Slept too before the exhibition to make repérages.. what is funny is that both have the same name !
