800k for a street piece
The street pieces from Julien's auctions are looking like a bargain
Or was it because it featured in his video?

Not so much a "street piece" though... IMO. Reminds me more of the pieces he's done as "gifts" to the boys club in Bristol, etc. Done without consent, but very much confirmed as being by him and easy to take and sell (or display)... I'd assume on purpose.

Anderson & Garland Auctions, by Minecrafter on Jan 27, 2022 21:27:13 GMT 1, Let's not forget how hyped this auction was. Realistically it wouldn't have been so high without all the media hype. We know that recently 6 originals have been passed for way lower prices. It's all about the PR.
His prints are still tanking though , let's see how the forum auctions will go....

Let’s be honest, this isn’t to do with hype, it’s about finding buyers. This notion that a banksy street work with out a certificate isn’t worth more than £250k even with provenance is insane. A one off banksy, is a one off banksy, you can’t get another. So why would that be slightly more money wise, than a print with an edition of 500.

Anderson & Garland Auctions, by STP on Sept 14, 2023 12:55:06 GMT 1, Oh dear oh dear...
Following their record-breaking sale of an original work of art by iconic street artist Banksy last year, Newcastle Auction House Anderson and Garland now have the pleasure of offering three original Banksy’s from the (2003) ‘Wrong War’ series.
The original works of art, created on cardboard, were produced for a protest march, held in London, opposing the War in Iraq. Very few signs survive, as they were either discarded on the streets or confiscated by the Metropolitan Police.
Julian Thomson, Managing Director of Anderson & Garland said “Our recent record-breaking sale of Banksy’s Merrivale Stable for a fee inclusive £1 million really put us on the Urban Art map as far as collector’s were concerned. There has certainly been no let-up in enquiries since then, from both buyers and sellers. We’re delighted to have this opportunity to offer these interesting and unique artworks in our auction in late September. Banksy collectors’ are very passionate, so as far as prices go, the sky really is the limit!”
The owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, attended the 2003 protest, and was one of very few who managed to keep hold of the sign as a ‘cool memento’ of the day. Subsequently, after realising its significance, he became a passionate collector of the ‘Wrong War’ series and has spent the last decade adding to his collection.
Pest Control, who are responsible for authenticating works by Banksy, do not issue a certificate of authenticity for works deemed as “street-art”, however these come with letters of provenance.
The works of art are for sale as part of The Modern Art & Design Auction on Wednesday 27th September and will be on view to the public Tuesday 26th September.

Anderson & Garland Auctions, by STP on Sept 14, 2023 13:56:09 GMT 1, All with the same accompanying nonsense that 'few have survived as they were confiscated by the Metropolitan Police'.
And I'd love to see the 'written communication from Pest Control where we can see that they are coming from the studio of the artist'.

Anderson & Garland Auctions, by Boy Wonder on Sept 14, 2023 15:20:05 GMT 1, They were on eBay two months ago as a lot. Sold for almost nothing.
The Bomb Hugger with the little NO was only used at the Basingstoke march.
So the owner must have participated in several marches :-)
The Bomb Hugger from Guy Hepners site is not in his posession. I bought it years back. It was on the frontpage of Basingstoke Gazette with a girl holding it. Later I traced her down. The work is now with a collector and not with Guy Hepner.

Anderson & Garland Auctions, by 7star on Sept 14, 2023 15:40:42 GMT 1, Regarding Ebay, no idea where he got them from but I know he got them recently 🙂
He'd never tell me how much he paid, he's a tit
I know he bought them from someone who attended quite a few March's but I never knew that the little no version was only from the Basingstoke march, cool nugget of info!

Anderson & Garland Auctions, by Boy Wonder on Sept 14, 2023 15:44:39 GMT 1, The auction description says the owner attended the marches. So either he did or he did not. Big trouble with provenance there. And you wrote he had had them for years. Now he got them recent. So what is correct?

I'm only saying my opinion that most of the placards look fake as sh@t and these don't but I'm not PC nor do I fancy an argument over pieces of cardboard haha
I know he's selling a lot of his collection at the moment through various dealers (pc certed prints) so I may be getting confused
