can anyone advise me on here about his work i know there are loads of fakes out there but apart from that i`m pretty clueless does a gallery coa mean anything if its not a dali specific gallery

unless you're loaded, then i'd steer well clear. Most gallery COA's are not worth the paper they're printed on.. thousands and thousands of fake and questionable Dali's out there. You'd need to use a very very good gallery to guarantee, and this usually means mucho dollars.

I have a rare Dali silk from the delux version of the Divine Comedy, this has documented authentication from Albert Field (now deceased)who was recognised as the number one Dali expert, without this mine would be worth a fraction of its true worth. I am no expert but do not accept gallery COA'S ask for Albert Field(New York Dali Archives) authentication before parting with any money. Hope this helps.

redfred is right, if it hasn't been authenticated by Albert Field, or his son(?), stay away. He wrote a book which is basically the official catalog of all his print material. Its a few hundred bucks, but worth it. I got a Dali print back in 94, and it has Albert Field's signature on the back. If Field's signanature is on it, or you have provenance thru him, its generally trusted to be real. Just check out the ebay priced with prints authenticated by him vs. a generic gallery coa. day and night diff. There's a place in California that sells his work exclusively, I think its called Dali Gallery now, their stuff is real/good. Bruce Hochman is the owner.

Julian Opie - go direct to his main print supplier which is Alan Christea gallery. Will be considerably cheaper than going to mike snelle or artificial.

Salvador Dali signed a number of these prints at the St. Regis hotel in New York in 1975, this one has been elegently framed by Sportiszus, full authentication is included and the piece is hologrammed. Unusual to have authentication as Dali's signature was widely forged, piece measures 50 x 50 cms framed so will not take up a lot of wall space and is a good conversation piece, original price was £795 (price still on verso) framed in plexi glass so UK postage no problem, lovely condition, offers via PM.

Albert Field, or his successor from the Dali Archives in NYC is the only recognised expert on Dali verification that is internationally recognised, without their verification I would be very wary about purchasing any Dali. Dali was widely forged therefore without verification to give a market value would be very speculative, hope this helps.

I was just popping it out of the frame and Mr Field has signed the back of the print

I am no expert but I bought mine from one, I know that if pieces were taken to be verified he would sign the back, mine has an elaborate certificate detailing exactly what it is because it was done via photographs, sounds good to me, but again I am no expert. Good luck with the sale, nice piece.

That one is showing an edition of 400

Two main editions of the same print one /400 on Arches and another /250 on Japon. Total tirage is actually 720 inc proofs and HC! It's from the Tarot suite also known as "Seven of Cups"

As yours is out of /250 it should be on a paper that looks like it's made up of a kinda mulch, will have no watermark (unlike the Arches edition) and should have a blindstamp on the bottom edge saying DALART N.V / Copyright 1978 (sometimes quite hard to find if impression is weak)

Frank Hunter in the archives can authenticate it fully for you for a fee but if the above is correct it's not really necessary.

Hi guys,

Thinking of selling my Salvador Dali "King Saul"(1975) hand signed and numbered  limited edition of 400 to fund another Banksy.. 

It's an Original Intaglio Etching and Color Pochoir on Arches Paper, hand signed and numbered in pencil .Size 66 X 50 cm.

I have attached a web photo but for anyone interested I will take the actual photos of the work.It's kept rolled-up in the tube(haven't had a chance to frame it yet) so can be delivered anywhere although I always prefer a face to face..So if in London or surrounding areas could always meet.
