Damien Hirst - The Beautiful Paintings, by Art Fan 2011 on Apr 11, 2023 21:01:17 GMT 1, An Original and hand signed Damien Hirst, not only that but each is unique and presumably to its owners exact tastes, along with full provenance.
What is the full provenance, just curious?
Purchased direct from source so original invoice.
Like it or not, a Hirst, unique and hand signed is a "win" no matter what. To be able to purchase such an item for under £2k is just a steal. I think the smaller one will prove most popular, being a relatively affordable way to own a "Unique Damien Hirst"

But then: HENI and Hirst will find plenty of ways to put out new editions, so might not be a unique opportunity.

Damien Hirst - The Beautiful Paintings, by orchid on Apr 11, 2023 21:43:39 GMT 1, Yeah, I think people will regret sleeping on these. Well known part of his oeuvre, unique, hand Signed boldly on the front. Rather have this than an signed sticker on a dibond multiple which has had no physical contact with the artist. And rather a print on canvas rather than paper/shiny dibond anyday, especially at this entry point. I think after the Empresses and Invader release, Heni have got this one right.

Damien Hirst - The Beautiful Paintings, by Arty Farty 15 on Apr 11, 2023 22:16:30 GMT 1, Heni have confirmed every single spin created will be catalogued and able to view online - similar to the Currency pieces.
I imagine they will add attributes and if there is money to be made Hirst will release a book. Each spin will have a sticker on the back with further provence details too.

UAA is so predictable. Negativity, then all the buyers come out of the woodwork after closing time, touting the positives to get the fomo going for the secondary sales.
For $6000 they could've purchased a good sized original artwork. Instead, they'll have a cheap looking museum store canvas print with a signature. It's a fun project to play with and the fomo was tempting, but it feels like a waste of money to purchase a print edition these days. It's oversaturated and the volume increases year after year. Unless he croaks, Hirst will bust out with another edition come Christmas time without fail.

Damien Hirst - The Beautiful Paintings, by met on Apr 12, 2023 6:10:30 GMT 1, Hirst said the spin paintings were his least favorite series. Which is why he let his customers deal with the tedious design processClever man he is.
Heni have confirmed every single spin created will be catalogued and able to view online - similar to the Currency pieces. I imagine they will add attributes and if there is money to be made Hirst will release a book. Each spin will have a sticker on the back with further provence details too.
Although I find The Beautiful Paintings to be of little interest as works of art, I am curious about one aspect:
1. Artistic concept by Damien Hirst.
2. Configuration and variables-selection by the relevant collector, using a generative algorithm (created by Hirst and HENI) which, itself, incorporates elements of randomness.
3. The printed physical artwork handsigned by Hirst.
Under these circumstances, query who owns the copyright for each piece.
Is Hirst definitely the sole copyright owner, with the relevant collector perhaps taking on a status akin to that of a studio assistant?
Or could it instead be argued that the intellectual property would actually be shared with the collector?
The latter might then have a say about the publication and distribution of images of their piece. For example, whether they consent to the work being catalogued and posted on HENI's website. Or, at a possible future date, whether to release a giclée print edition based on their original giclée canvas.

Damien Hirst - The Beautiful Paintings, by topper on Apr 12, 2023 8:46:41 GMT 1, If the buyer gets artistic credit, they will also be entitled Artist Resale Rights, and Hirst aint giving them up for anyone!
Seriously, we only selected some colours from a small range provided by Hirst. I think they will win this one.
And as a buyer, i'm very happy for Hirst to take all the credit, I don't want my name anywhere near it!

Damien Hirst - The Beautiful Paintings, by Horatio Nelson on Apr 12, 2023 9:25:50 GMT 1, Zero artistic credit for the buyer. The terms for the NFTs are perhaps even clearer in this regard at cl 6.3:
"...You acknowledge that notwithstanding your use of the algorithm to generate the Digital Artwork associated with your NFT, Damien Hirst is the sole author and owner of the copyright in the Digital Artwork and your purchase of an NFT does not provide any rights, express or implied (including, without limitation, any copyright or other intellectual property), in and to the Digital Artwork, other than the right to copy and display the Digital Artwork for your own personal, non-commercial use and as set forth in clause 6.8 and 6.9."

What is the full provenance, just curious?
Purchased direct from source so original invoice. Like it or not, a Hirst, unique and hand signed is a "win" no matter what. To be able to purchase such an item for under £2k is just a steal. I think the smaller one will prove most popular, being a relatively affordable way to own a "Unique Damien Hirst" I can understand why you say this but I still can't think of these as "a Damien Hirst". It's a piece of computer-generated art signed by Hirst. Quite a different thing in my opinion.

I think I'm right in saying that Hirst's original spin paintings were created by himself, not assistants. He chose the colour combinations and he even has some control over how the paint is applied, i.e. whether they splash out from the centre or form a messy streak across the paintings. He also influences what colour overlaps what existing colours. None of that applies to this release.

Damien Hirst - The Beautiful Paintings, by gus on Apr 12, 2023 14:18:52 GMT 1, People not considering these “a Damien “Hirst makes me even more bullish on them. This will go down in history as a defining collection in art history, and I for one will be looking to purchase more when they become available on EBay. I hope you find some tasteful ones! Your's was genuinely the nicest I saw, less was definitely more 👌 . Interesting debate this whole thing actually... Mine will either be a banger or a big flop, no in between. Will be interesting to see how it looks on the wall (and or eBay).
The debate surrounding it all is what made me buy one in the end. I don’t think this type of work will go anywhere, and it’s the ‘first’ of such by a v famous artist.
Worst case I hate it, can’t catapult it, and the dag has an over sized over priced frisbee. Sounds like a win win.

Damien Hirst - The Beautiful Paintings, by Art Fan 2011 on Apr 12, 2023 15:05:45 GMT 1, How much of Damiens work is actually created by Damien is open to debate anyway. And with the world of AI, NFT, etc this type of stuff (ie: not painted by hand by the artist will increasingly become the norm) As for is this an "Original by Damien Hirst" one which is signed by him aswell - there is no doubt its a big fat YES! An ORIGINAL HIRST at those prices was a real steal, I look forward to seeing g what people came up with when they land with buyers in a few months time just one stupid question... how many signed hirst edition has been made at today? how many there will be? owning a signed hirst will be like drinking a coke pretending it is champagne!! please don't get me wrong... I love hirst and have some of his editions. but really he is making too many edition every few months. And whilst the demand is there, he will keep making them.
They are unique works by Hirst and signed by him - to be able to get one at such a low price point is a win all round.
Let's hope everyone snoozed on these 📈📈📈

Damien Hirst - The Beautiful Paintings, by Crime in the City on Apr 12, 2023 19:43:27 GMT 1, I'm genuinely intrigued to see how that goes... feels weird to me buying 'someone else's' one.... on that note, if others are good with that, I've got some old gym shoes I don't wear anymore, pm me for a bargain... Second-hand shoes also sell quite well on e-bay. Unbelievable... I had no idea. I know Masong is a massive collector of pre-worn socks, jockstraps and mankinis but the shoes thing is new to me... As I said though,I have loads of pairs.. Pm me with a serious offer..
