Ayako Rokkaku π―π΅ Print Release β’ Show News β’ Art For Sale, by kjg on Nov 24, 2022 12:49:22 GMT 1, I think that is because most people are only interested in the monetary value of this piece. But maybe I am totally wrong and most buyers will frame it and hang it proudly on their walls. Hopefully in a few months there will be some pictures of framed prints in this thread.
I tried and tried to see something positive and attractive in this print, but unfortunately it didn't work out for me. I read a few articles on Rokkaku and took a look at other prints and originals she made. I felt no arty spark at all. So, I have to be honest: I would never buy her work, have it framed and then hung.
Maybe it could be something for a nursery? But my daughter is 17 years old and prefers to hang posters of Harry Styles. And I actually have to agree with her. Again, that's my opinion.
I am looking forward to other views though, because maybe I am totally missing the point in her work.

Ayako Rokkaku π―π΅ Print Release β’ Show News β’ Art For Sale, by Reader on Nov 24, 2022 12:50:35 GMT 1, It's a shame everyone seems to be talking about the price and the discount code. Understandable I guess but is there anyone who would like to chat about the actual art? Finally, I've been hesitant about asking, I love the fact that she's "self taught" and is making in-roads into the art establishment, but really struggle to see where this fits in the grand scheme of things beyond Japan's "cute" culture and phenomenon of hyper consumerism. There seems to be this desire to escape from the reality of very conformist and stringent social rules in Japan, which makes sense that this Kawaii culture developed, parrallels to rave culture developing under Thatcherism or the response of the underclass in Detroit in creating Techno or Hip Hop growing out of the Bronx. But all of those movements and forms took decades to develop before slowly bleeding into mainstream commercial culture. This process seems to have been massively accelerated, where the market now leads. And we try desperately to create the counter culture value and relevance after the fact in a very "add on" top down manner. I'm not sure if or how or even if this should or could be sustainable. I guess that's not the point though. But it all seems a little too disposable, like at some point this FOMO candyfloss will meet the water and there won't be very much substance left.

Ayako Rokkaku π―π΅ Print Release β’ Show News β’ Art For Sale, by mushi on Nov 24, 2022 12:58:30 GMT 1, It's a shame everyone seems to be talking about the price and the discount code. Understandable I guess but is there anyone who would like to chat about the actual art? Well, i enjoyed watching her. Live streaming is interesting as we can follow her process while painting such as her choices regarding colour palette or the amount of time used to develop each or other parts of the canvas.
A very "tactile" performance, i feel like i understand a bit more why she likes to paint this way.
I like the piece of course, but i kinda bought it for the souvenir of the performance, especially at that price.
A bit disappointed the video was muted but i understand why it was.

Ayako Rokkaku π―π΅ Print Release β’ Show News β’ Art For Sale, by rick523 on Nov 24, 2022 13:02:56 GMT 1, Y'all are giving Avant Arte a hard time about a stamp vs signature. They gave you the answer that stamps and signatures are interchangeable in many Asian cultures plus this is the first print the artist intends on using a stamp that has been reserved for originals. Be nice; don't be a dick - they don't have to participate on UAA.
I purchased the print and look forward to hanging it on my wall and I didn't use the code for a discount. I have made one other purchase from Avant Arte the Parra print When the Smoke Clears. The overall presentation and packing were second to none. They do an amazing job.
If you missed this print, too bad.

The video had sound for me, just had to turn up the volume a little... they were playing music in the background!

Ayako Rokkaku π―π΅ Print Release β’ Show News β’ Art For Sale, by Avant Arte on Nov 24, 2022 13:18:53 GMT 1, @grumpyfish Stamping has actually always been part of her practice. She uses signing and stamping interchangeably. So far she has only stamped originals, so this will be the first time sheβs ever used her signature stamp on a print. For an idea of what it looks like this is an example of her signature stamp on an original work Will the stamp be placed by the Artist herself or by the printers? Iβm on the fence with this one, looks really good. No, the stamp has been made by Ayako but will be placed by our team in house.

Ayako Rokkaku π―π΅ Print Release β’ Show News β’ Art For Sale, by Deleted on Nov 24, 2022 13:33:05 GMT 1, It's a beautiful print and a great price but the explanation of the stamp seems a bit misleading.
The Hanko stamp is traditionally in red ink and and doesn't look like this. Usually they are much smaller and Japanese don't use Katakana for their names - that is for Foreign words and names. This is NOT a normal Japanese standard stamp that people use in Japan.
It looks like a special stamp she made for herself which is totally fine. But this is not a traditional stamp and Asian just dont use NORMAL stamps for signatures. That's totally wrong.

Ayako Rokkaku π―π΅ Print Release β’ Show News β’ Art For Sale, by Duke Down Stairs on Nov 24, 2022 13:35:27 GMT 1, FYI The Japanese "Rokkaku" means six corners / "hexagon" in English. Hence the shape above her name (in katakana) in stamp.

Ayako Rokkaku π―π΅ Print Release β’ Show News β’ Art For Sale, by Deleted on Nov 24, 2022 13:37:41 GMT 1, Most Japanese names have english meaning/translation but that does not mean they use Katakana to spell their names.
Japanese typically NEVER use Katakana to spell their real Japanese names. Japanese 101
Since she is using "Rokkaku" it should be in Hiragana. If she was using the actual english word "Hexagon" then it would be in Katakana.

As the image I shared shows and you pointed out, it isn't a traditional hanko. It is a stamp she special designed for use on her art and my explanation of Japanese stamping practice was meant to give context as to why she might choose to incorporate stamping into her practice.

Ayako Rokkaku π―π΅ Print Release β’ Show News β’ Art For Sale, by Gunny on Nov 24, 2022 13:53:19 GMT 1, I personally think it is great that the print is stamped. Ayako made the stamp for this print. The stamp is then done by the publishers on the print as she wanted - it is not SIGNED IN THE PLATE - it is a stamp that she created and wanted used for this print. That is as good as a signature to me. Perhaps it would be good for Avant to issue a signed COA to go with it - that would be great!
I honestly think this print is a brilliant price point and an amazing image. Yes there will be loads but who cares, it is still limited edition and you won't find at this price going forward, that is for sure.

Ayako Rokkaku π―π΅ Print Release β’ Show News β’ Art For Sale, by Avant Arte on Nov 24, 2022 16:30:37 GMT 1, Once the edition size is defined, would it be possible to get a % of the size per country? It is just a curiosity to understand the collectors base, as Iβve see the most been sent to Japan and Korea, some to UK and Italy. It is just a personal curiosity but I think many members on this forum would also be interested. thank you So can't give away all the details but we did indeed sell more to Japan than any other country. Followed by Taiwan, USA, UK, HK. As far as Europe goes it was actually the Netherlands, Germany and France who took the lead. βΊοΈ

Ayako Rokkaku π―π΅ Print Release β’ Show News β’ Art For Sale, by esfer on Nov 24, 2022 17:35:41 GMT 1, Thank you for letting us know!
Honestly that's an excellent number for all involved! It's high enough for the artist to feel good about, and the idea was successful so maybe Avant Arte will do more of these with other artists they are representing.
The price was excellent for the size and content we'll be getting! I can't wait to see the print in person!
Wouldn't it be great if she decided to switch up the stamped signature (which doesn't even matter according to the artist/ Japanese cultural norms/ the artist's gallery representatives) for a hand signature just to teach those that care so much about signatures a hard lesson?
Omg. That would be amazing.
Not probable, but it would be amazing none the less!
Watch how high the next timed release goes if that happens!
Thanks again AA for this fantastic and beautiful opportunity to purchase a great print...and at a reasonably affordable price at that!

Did you receive an email? I have received zero updates or emails. Have others received emails about the shipping date? I assume it would be from an email we sent. Usually when your order has been dispatched we send an email with tracking link. Because of the amount of prints we're not shipping them all at the same time so likely yours hasn't shipped yet. Shouldn't be to long now so hope you get your email soon!
(Feel free to message me if you still don't have the email in a couple days)
