So does this mean if you don't own anything by Goin now, you'd have to have a ticket from a friend who does own one?

I guess rules will come out when they're sorted out. I expect you'd have to show your COA or something to get one because Goin doesn't hold a database of owners, not currently anyway.

This is a fascinating topic.

It's very obvious his management is trying to raise his profile by creating artificial scarcity.

Also if they are concerned his work has been resold in the past, their new system actually favours past flippers for his future new releases. Good idea in principle, but wrongly implemented.

How many collectors are actually that interested in open/timed editions anyway? He’ll certainly accomplish keeping flippers away, along with a good chunk of his collectors.

Actually I was looking on e Bay for prints, considering a purchase (once that I had money🤣) but never found any of his work. It's unfortunate because I genuinely like some of goin's pieces and he is one of the few that has stenciled walls here in Athens 😢

From my understanding, if you already own one of his works then you'll have access to buying signed/numbered editions in future.

If you don't, you'll still be able to buy his works, but these will only be the open editioned versions.

Trying to make the news to raise his profile. I somewhat like his work although it's not terribly original but that attitude doesn't encourage me to collect art from him.

I think these news are interesting because we might see higher profile artists follow suit, hopefully with more intelligence.

I'm not sure, I guess we'll find out soon enough. It's interesting to see someone taking these sort of steps though.

Been following GOIN with a sort of morbid fascination, but seeing this just had to unfollow and not see anymore want-be art. Technique looks okay but subject matter is trying to hard (in my opinion). Takes one to know one!
