Final price with hammer was 3x high estimate. Sure it isnβt the crazy result the first piece was but still super strong and in line with secondary prices. You have one that sold for $58K, and now the same size, and a better work (if that's even possible with these), one month later...for $12K  Seem strange to you?
Then you had a second auction for a piece that cost around $3k retail at the start of the year reach $17,500 after fees, another great result.
I would be using the $17,500 as the correct secondary market value and have heard of similar sales. If you think about it that is a huge markup for a highly in demand artist and if I was the seller I would be really happy.
The only reason people have freaked out is the difference in price but to me it isn't that surprising and $17,500 is an incredible result from a very talented artist.
PS. I do own one piece of artwork by Kencut, a 120cm tondo. I might be biased but think my opinion is fair.

The market is still red hot for Kencut and the trajectory is heading up. If I was pricing a piece on the secondary market, Iβd be using the most recent result as a comp, not the first.
