Tateward Auction today, by JFCC on Mar 31, 2022 9:28:05 GMT 1, Here’s the Banksy prices, a well-run auction apart from the creaking door but very well managed despite the enormous catalogue!!! Some pieces seemed a little out of place and as a result a number of items were unsold. Overall prices seemed pretty good for the lower valued artists (I thought the much maligned Connor Bros stuff held up pretty well) but overall it wasn't so strong, but I’m sure those with a better width of artists knowledge can comment! On Banksy the non COA time items and album covers hit the most incredible numbers. Think Tank working proof hammered at £10k or £13.4k all done…wow!! However this is not the place to sell prints with a number passing and poor values being achieved. Not a great day!! But hey good luck to all of those who bought!!! GDP Balloon Tee Shirt Hammer £8.5k Passed WSM Unsigned Hammer £16k £21.4k All done GDP Cushions Hammer £13k Passed Happy Chopper Unsigned Hammer £24k £32.2k All done Gangsta Rat Unsigned Hammer £25k £33.5k All done Soup Can Unsigned Hammer £25k Passed Toxic Mary Unsigned Hammer £22k Passed Pulp Fiction Unsigned Hammer £44k £59k All done Monkey Queen signed Hammer £38k Passed Pulp Fiction signed Hammer £100k £134k All done GWB Unsigned Hammer £125k £167.5k All done Is "all done" with VAT? Yes "all done" is done with VAT on the buyers premium as that is what a UK buyer would pay. Elsewhere in nearly all other countries there is an import duty equivalent (sometimes higher) so it is sensible include VAT recognise/approximate the buyer full cost.

Anything that can easily be replicated and put through a printer eg banksy posters, stik posters, ed Ruscha posters, etc I would stay away as they're fake mostly. Ditto obvious fakes that Harry and co put in like haring subway drawings, Warhol unsigned and unnumbered Prints which are popping up elsewhere too from known dodgy galleries. These threads are top of Google 'tate ward fakes', so check others out and do due diligence because they don't, hence why they've stopped bothering to defend or even promote here, the next tactical move.

Tateward Auction today, by wanchope on Mar 31, 2022 16:40:45 GMT 1, Having said that I had 13 lots with them, nothing dodgy at all. In fact only 5 lots had any bids and only 1 bid per those 5. Then It all happened on the night and all 13 sold. Just good old fashioned auctioning !

Personally from collection to payment it has been smooth each time. I get some shady goings on has happened in the past, but from what I hear the whole art world is a bit shady 🤷🏻♂️

Tateward Auction today, by wanchope on Mar 31, 2022 18:37:24 GMT 1, Having said all that I don’t know how auction houses can charge 10-15% to a seller and 25 to the buyer. Selling a house is 1-1.5% in the UK and the process is a hell of a lot harder!!!!

You shouldn't be paying above 10% at this sort of level, all in.

Tateward Auction today, by tradeya2 on Mar 31, 2022 23:38:32 GMT 1, Can someone explain Aboudia's appeal please? They show with who? I can't explain the appeal but I can say visiting a booth showing his works at Context Miami was one of the more laughable high pressure sales pitches I had ever received. He is the next Basquiat you know? Context Miami the hedge fund conference?

Tateward Auction today, by cardiff on Mar 31, 2022 23:55:09 GMT 1, I bought the Faile print 297a Great buy...love that version of Butterfly Girl...classic Faile. The only reason I didn't go after it was the condition report. Hopefully, you can get it flattened easily.

Tateward Auction today, by artlike on Apr 1, 2022 12:19:35 GMT 1, Pejac prices were very good ! Wound - regular hammered at GBP 8500 Meadow at GBP 8000 Heavy Seas did GBP 3500
Strong results for hard to find brilliant prints. Heavy Sea result is strange. I wonder if it was damaged.

Wound - regular hammered at GBP 8500 Meadow at GBP 8000 Heavy Seas did GBP 3500 Strong results for hard to find brilliant prints. Heavy Sea result is strange. I wonder if it was damaged. The Wound was stored flat and never framed. So in mint condition.
The Meadow and HS are framed - that might explain the difference.
Condition Report In very good condition No visible knocks, tears or creases to the sheet Framed to a high standard in a white frame using Premium Anti-Reflective Artglass This work has not been examined out of the frame.
In general Meadow is considered worth more then Wound, I think.

Did anyone see what the Basquiat and Hambleton went for?

Tateward Auction today, by elvistopete on Apr 8, 2022 11:27:14 GMT 1, Tateward have done a great job and any new enterprise will have a few bumps in the road, anything else is sour grapes.
They have given collectors a great platform to sell, sometimes vast collections of work that have been accumulated over many years. With very little hassle they can get both great returns or money back, which in this saturated art market is equally amazing.
The bigger picture is they help keep art market moving, they pay ARR to artist, they employ staff, contractors, pay taxes etc etc. Then we can go buy more art! In my humble opinion this is only a good thing.
I applaud them for it and am very thankful and wish them every success.
