Just a heads up for those who like their work. I had a very pleasant work related trip to Oxford yesterday and afterwards popped in to the Modern Art Oxford gallery. They are selling a Jake and Dinos etching called The rape of creativity for £200. I thought that was a really good price and it was a great print so I bought one. Apparently they only have about 20 left (edition is 100).

I also really liked the David Goldblatt photograph they have there too.

I think they bought them all for around £100,000 and resold them for 6 times that amount.

The best part of the show is fucking Hell, the re-built Hell which burnt in the Momart fire, it's an awesome work. The paintings on the first floor are pretty great also. Really wanted to buy one, but had to settle on an etching.

Hmm, I don't know what it is with these guys, they swing between genius and idiot for me.

I think these hitler paintings fit into the later.

The sculptural stuff they have done, on the other hand, is amazing. The wood statue carvings they did... wow!

The video is well worth watching, and a good example of the great work they can put out. It is also good that it brings their work to people that can't get to see the stuff for real.

I think that the Hitler watercolours were weak, but they certainly fit into the aesthetic of "improving" works of art that the Chapmans started with the late edition Goya disasters of war that they added too, and the Hogarth Rake's Progress series, I think where the other two succeeded was that the Goyas and the Hogarths were really strong images to build on, I just didn't get that with the Hitler watercolours, they were just weak, and so didn't really have any presence other than the obvious Hitler link.

Amazing video, I've always thought that they sometimes try too hard to get a reaction.Seeing this video made me see things in a different way, i guess it's hard not to given the subject matter!

I ordered one of these the other day. Bargain compared to some of the silly money rubbish being traded under the 'street art' cliche. Have you got any pics of it hung?

I agree, it's a fantastic etching, the Chapman's are in my opinion the best printmakers working in the UK at the moment, second would be Peter Doig, no pics of it hung alas, as it's not yet, I think it;s going in my bedroom with the Paula Regos though, it'll work well there i think.

Anyone with ANY interest in art has to go and see 'HELL'. It's astonishing.

Funniest bit is Hitler looking out over a vast sea of dead & mutilated bodies with his paintbrush & easel... painting a child's drawing of a house & sun.

It does reflect the strangeness of his twee watercolours....

Nice etching.

As for the video, I found it every bit as dark and disturbing as I imagine it was meant to be. While the artistic element is indeed powerful, I can't say I'm upset by being unable to attend this show for geographical reasons.

which is now at the top end of it's price range (counter prints go up as they sell out) meaning it's almost all gone! its a beauty though.
