Ceramics Artists Suggestions Please , by mrizzle on Feb 9, 2022 22:47:45 GMT 1, I’ve recently become increasingly interested in ceramics artists (not very urban I realise) but there seems to be a higher profile of artists than go work with ceramics/the ceramics scene in the U.S. than there is here in the U.K. While there are a number of U.S. based artists that I follow and am actively seeking work by (particularly excited about having an opportunity this year to buy some pieces by Peter Pincus - instagram.com/peterpincusporcelain?utm_medium=copy_link), I’d be really keen to hear suggestions of ceramics artists that I could explore work by (suggested links to galleries/online sellers if they don’t sell work directly would also be appreciated). I’d particularly like to discover more U.K. based artists but don’t feel you need to limit suggestions.
Really hope some suggestions might be forthcoming as I am sure I’m not the only one who appreciates the craftsmanship and creativity of so many ceramics artists. Just really keen to discover and learn more.

Ceramics Artists Suggestions Please , by mrizzle on Feb 10, 2022 14:32:40 GMT 1, Thank you so much Acme Thunderer and coach for these really wonderful suggestions. I’m really taken with each one of them so definitely going to explore these artists more fully.
Thank you also kwatis for your suggestion. Possibly less what I’m looking for but still going to have a better look at her Insta.
Really appreciate your replies folks.

Ceramics Artists Suggestions Please , by mrizzle on Feb 10, 2022 17:32:49 GMT 1,
I really like this one too coach! Definitely another one for me to check out. I am but a great suggestion. I’m beginning to establish quite a reasonable collection of his work but still some species and colours to go. I’m also keen to add one of his bigger pieces by commission at some stage soon.

Looks like some cool collaboration pieces coming up if you look at his Insta. Maybe more spacemen.

I’m definitely going to pick up one of Johnson Tsang’s open edition planters from Avant Arte. They look tremendous. I’m not familiar with Clementine Bell so will check her out and thanks for the suggestion.

Ceramics Artists Suggestions Please , by sandworm on Feb 10, 2022 18:39:45 GMT 1, I echo Akiko Hirai as mentioned previously, her work is becoming increasingly difficult to get hold of however and is receiving a lot of international acclaim. Some of her pieces were at Hauser and Wirth Somerset last year and I think they are up there with the best at featuring the best contemporary ceramic talent so always a good idea to keep an eye on their artists. Make - Hauser & Wirth Somerset
One artist I particularly like is a young Korean ceramicist Jae Jun Lee who is living and working in Wales. I was lucky enough to go and visit his studio at the end of last year and he is one of the most genuine and humble talents that I have met. His work focuses on simplicity and repetition which is testament to his meticulous attention to detail, to the extent he hand crafts his own tungsten carbide tools which themselves are a thing of beauty. I have a couple of his works and they bring joy to me daily.

Ceramics Artists Suggestions Please , by mrizzle on Mar 24, 2022 21:48:42 GMT 1, Still finding myself really drawn to ceramics at the moment (despite the lack of correlation to urban art). Just received this Noelle Hoover wine cup today and I’m absolutely blown away by it in person. Standard incorrect customs fees, corresponding delays and issues were immediately forgotten once I saw it and held it.
I love form and functioning combining harmoniously in something as aesthetically beautiful as this. Only the small matter of the fact that I actually hate wine but I’m sure I can find something else alcoholic to swill from it.
