If you have a child that is too young for a bank account and would like to start them on the journey of being financially responsible, I highly recommend the GoHenry card and app. There is a monthly charge (which bugs me but is necessary in keeping the concept going) however fees can me minimised if you following certain simple steps.

children can be provided with task lists to earn pocket money, there are games to learn about money and links can be sent to relatives to provide financial gifts directly to the child’s account. 

You can set payment spending limits etc. and have full control of the card via a parent app.
