HENI is delighted to present The Empresses by Damien Hirst, a series of five glorious prints depicting carefully composed images of butterflies, published by HENI Editions. The prints are available to purchase on HENI from 28th January 2022 until 5pm UTC on Friday 4th February 2022. The final number of editions produced will be limited by demand during this time period. The edition is priced at $3,500.

HENI is offering the ability to either purchase the physical prints directly, or to delay receipt of the print for up to 3 years by purchasing a “HENI Editions NFT Deed”. This new category of HENI NFT allows collectors to redeem their NFT for the physical artwork at a later date, and also to pass on their entitlement to the print through trading the NFT, thus giving a maximum of flexibility to collectors.

The striking Empresses prints are constructed of beautiful images of red butterfly wings, which are intricately arranged with a filigree of red glitter to produce visually intoxicating kaleidoscope-like effects. The prints are named after five exceptionally influential female rulers: Wu Zetian, Nūr Jahān, Theodora, Suiko and Taytu Betul. Their characters and stories are enhanced by the dominant red tone of the series, which deals with themes such as life, war, power, anger, love, joy and luck.

I presume those looking to sell will choose the NFT option, for ease of trading. however those looking to buy at a later date might prefer a physical for convenience.

Appreciate the NFT can be redeemed as a physical for 3 years but could create a possible imbalance between # of sellers vs buyers in NFT world.

Or am I way off?

Heni say this isn’t an NFT drop in the same way The Currency and Great Expectations were.

Damn.. Why get a 12" x 12" giclee for $2,500 when you could get this 40" x 40" one for $3,500. I've never gone for a Heni release, or any open edition, but these are really quite stunning.

Yes, similar, but this time around you can buy as many as you want. Anyone looking for a quick flip should compare the sales results of the NHS prints (1 per person but a better image) to Fruitful & Forever (unlimited but a worse image). It may take quite a while for them to appreciate as a result.

Congrats man. I had a complete set of Virtues carted, but decided to buy only one after some “advice” by some members here. That mistake cost me about $75k.

They look fantastic with the glitter but the red is too much for me.

I do like the idea of the NFT for this - have they said when you can exchange or is that TBC?

I suspect numbers sold will be a lot higher than the Cherry Blossoms.

Virtues was also buy as many as you want, no? Imho I don’t think you can compare these to NHS or Fruitful. Those aren’t nearly as striking as these(I’ve got all 4 and they’re not making the wall). Are there any similar in size and style, timed Heni, Hirst editions that we can compare them to?
