If it was £100 sure, for a limited edition poster that's fair but anymore than that is money down the drain.

Once it’s in a frame it will look like a framed poster.Problem is, the frame will cost more than the value of the poster (print).

Above all, I think that we are interested - and that why we would pay this price - because of the great editor ( Christian Avant Arte ) It’s not a critic, I like a lot AA. But I reckon that’s like Heni, OTi, and some others, that Avant Arte is very hyped ( with reason) and gives confidence as they are offering prints with quality and have this classy intellectual side. Another editor ? Nobody would bought it at this price. We pay a bit the brand. Otherwise it should be around 250 I think ( depends of the. Quality also ) it’s just my thoughts :-)

Ed Ruscha 🇺🇸 Pop Art • New Print Release • Art For Sale, by quicksnap on Mar 31, 2024 18:47:31 GMT 1, It's the kind of thing you buy because you'll enjoy it. But there will always be someone who didn't buy one from the release that wants one. New people born every second. It's also not a $10 poster. There will also always be people who can't afford it now and might be able to in a few years. The funny part is that if it were a Banksy timed release for the same price, or more, nobody would question if it were worth it. So just weigh out how much you like it and if you would enjoy it on your wall or not. No thread is ever complete without the: "If it were Bansky..." Yeah, fair. But when it helps make a point 🤷🏻♂️ Just saying that unsigned doesn't imply zero value. People will spend hundreds of dollars on folded posters that were inserts in a newspaper but complain about another artist doing an unsigned edition at a price point that is arguably reasonable compared to their other releases. I'm not even trying to convince anyone, cause the less people that buy it means a smaller edition. To each their own. That being said, I do try to buy things that I believe will, at least, hold value as you never know if/when something might come up and could need that money.

As the great philosopher and TV chef Gino D'Acampo once said: "If my grandma had wheels she would be a bicycle." Just kidding of course, but it's hard to draw comparisons between different artists. Banksy would never do a timed release like this I would imagine, and Stik is a retired artist, with not a lot of work going around, also most of the newspaper posters ended up in people's bins. This release is definitely a buy if you like kind of work, as you don't know the edition numbers/fair value. Like the work, but not sure if I'll pull the trigger.

Ed Ruscha 🇺🇸 Pop Art • New Print Release • Art For Sale, by George Poppit on Apr 1, 2024 9:07:22 GMT 1, I’ve realised it’s the white border that makes it look like a poster. Without the border it would have been slightly larger and framed float mounted would have looked better. Any text and numbering should have gone on the back.

Ed Ruscha 🇺🇸 Pop Art • New Print Release • Art For Sale, by Londown 01 on Apr 1, 2024 18:51:03 GMT 1, The worst editions are those that are merely reproductions of an original.
If you want to make it even worse, you don't sign it, print it with a big white border and stamp it with a museum reference.

Ed Ruscha 🇺🇸 Pop Art • New Print Release • Art For Sale, by Winter on Apr 2, 2024 15:15:23 GMT 1, It will sell but flippers are getting used being burned by recent releases and I'd imagine there is a bit more hesitancy than before. I'm sure it's well produced but it does look too much like a poster for my liking.

Ed Ruscha 🇺🇸 Pop Art • New Print Release • Art For Sale, by jsher on Apr 3, 2024 0:17:30 GMT 1, Ultimately, £415 is not a vast sum of money.
In a world where people pedal a £3 unsigned "Banksy Rock" coaster from a gift shop for hundreds of pounds, it's really a case of each to their own.
I personally think AA are allowing young collectors or fans of Ruscha to have a small statement piece at what isn't a ludicrous price compared to other releases from artists with less recognition.
As shown in the AA in-situ image, it looks pretty nice framed up in the right setting.
Here's hoping all the haters stick to their word and the edition is of 500. But I doubt it.

As for Banksy’s Peckham rocks, they struggle to fetch a couple of hundred now. The art market has gone super soft and AA know this. That’s why the price has been kept down.

Seems to be more of a Hybrid (poster/print)
UV pigment print with yellow 'silkscreen' details and a matte varnish seal, printed on 410gsm Somerset Tub Sized Radiant White paper.
silkscreen, sophisticated stenciling technique for surface printing, in which a design is cut out of paper or another thin, strong material and then printed by rubbing, rolling, or spraying paint or ink through the cut out areas. It was developed about 1900 and originally used in advertising and display work

In terms of the market, I think it's a great time to buy... As someone said earlier in the thread, there's always new collectors and changing tastes. Maybe a year or two ago, this timed release would have been double the price.
I think the screen-printed element will hopefully add more depth than a flat-out giclée. Let's see ey!
