Quite possibly the worst year since I joined this place. I think NFT has had a big impact, and not for the good, plus most artists have been unsure what to do during the pandemic. |

Personally, I have little interest in art investment, I've bought things that I like to look at, that give me a good feeling, maybe sometimes out of respect for the artist. Occasionally I've thought .. 'ooh that's a bit cheap' and bought the cheaper than it should be item, but it hasn't really worked out as I tend to not bother selling and not really want it on the wall either, so I've tried to give that up.
But .. there's still no one apart from Damien Hirst on that list that I would expect to make you good money going forward, and I really don't rate him as an artist .. a businessman yes but not an artist

Yeah, Damien Hirst is difficult to judge as he is on a totally different level to pretty much all other artists, but his work remains relatively affordable, so I felt he deserved to be included.

I think we have all seen artists come and go in this scene, getting hyped up, flippered to death and then dumped. I'm rather surprised to see Ben Eine in your list. He's a nobody these days, particularly after he punched his girlfriend in public and was charged with assault. He gets a lot of troll action on this Forum, but in terms of what what I’m recommending, I feel his work is easily available and at very affordable prices, and I feel he will remain an important figure in this scene for decades to come. |

It seems to me that is a good mix of artists that compared with their peers, with practice have or are denting the art scene.
From a social point of view seeing Ben there is not ideal but then there is also a consideration form an investment POV: considering that now you can find Eine artwork for less than it was last year, is there a chance to him to recover some of the reputation damage? If so is it a good buy?

Eine might not be a person you want a relationship with 😘 but I didn’t think this was ever a dating website, I’m recommending art. I would hazard a guess that many artists in this scene are not particularly nice people to live with or be in a relationship with, or maybe they have political, religious, whatever views that might be irritating, so if we all thought that way it would become pretty impossible to like or buy anything 😂

No, Eine isn’t there coz it’s cheap, funnily enough it would be partly true for Hirst. I feel Hirst is actually undervalued in most cases, still pretty easy to buy high quality pieces at reasonable prices. I'm new to Cleon Peterson's work but I really like it. I was really impressed with the sculpture offerings on NTWRK so hoping to pick something up of his soon.
I thought Eine's work was really cool when I first saw it in a documentary (believe it was the one around Bansky vs Robbo). Loved his typographical prowess displayed and wanted to see more. Sadly, he's basically regurgitating that same old circus font and in not very interesting ways. Shame.

I'm new to Cleon Peterson's work but I really like it. I was really impressed with the sculpture offerings on NTWRK so hoping to pick something up of his soon.
I thought Eine's work was really cool when I first saw it in a documentary (believe it was the one around Bansky vs Robbo). Loved his typographical prowess displayed and wanted to see more. Sadly, he's basically regurgitating that same old circus font and in not very interesting ways. Shame.
