Serpentine is delighted to announce the launch of 12 new limited edition ink washes by Gilbert & George.

All of our editions are generously donated by the artists to raise funds that directly support our programming and civic engagement projects. By purchasing an edition, you are literally making our next 50 years possible.

12 x 50 unique paintings on paper.
Special 400 gsm watercolour paper and Indian ink
70 x 100 cm

Interesting T&C's with these....

"As soon as the purchase price is paid in full, you will become the legal owner of the Artwork and, upon such

payment, you will be responsible for the Artwork and the risk of damage to or loss of the Artwork will pass

Just noticed that some say sold out on the original link I sent to the edition page, but on the Serpentine main products page still seem to have a few available. Odd!

I went for Belief because Kiss Me is more like an edition of 150, in my mind.

I’m not someone that buys art because the colour matches my curtains, but I can understand not wanting certain images or words displayed around the house, despite appreciating them as good art.

Are they saying resale isn’t allowed on eBay, artsy, or gallery websites, but is OK through a physical gallery or auction house!?

Got a BELIEF. Encapsulates their ethos in one beautifully spaced word.
Without dicks or fucks.
These are harder to make than imagined I think. Easy as a print. But to fill the large piece of paper up 50 times in a fairly precise way is quite a feat. Maybe. I like to think it is hard. Like dicks.

Nothing unusual. Standard Serpentine t&c for their editions. Holds zero water legally, other than blacklisting.

Would be better if it were handwritten.
But it would be too long and possibly messy. And distracting? The artist stating this is an original feels too much. A
Writing just 12/50 wouldn’t be right either as they aren’t the usual edition. As each is unique.

Having it printed detaches the artists from the business end of the piece. It describes what it is but it’s not the art itself. That belongs to the ink wash and signatures.

Or is that all in my head? Likely.

Don't even think it needs hand writing. All the info will be on the invoice and catalogue raisonné. Bit like leaving tags on your clothes.
