Inflation will soon hit in for a Banksy market, by jeezuzjonessnr on Jan 24, 2022 21:26:19 GMT 1, Some good posts and yes I had to have a word with the wife, the other day she bought the kids cherries for crazy money. I said 'just take the kids in the store and leave them walk around eating the cherries and pay for a couple when you leave' 😉. Have to be careful when out shopping thesedays, always check prices..
Problem is also here in Australia the government doesn't factor a lot of things into their inflation calcs. Like cars and houses etc..so their bullshit low figure isn't real inflation. My house has gone up nearly $300k since covid started which is crazy. It just means the divide is getting bigger and people have to borrow more, rents rise as investors raise them to cover extra money borrowed. There will be far more homeless people in the future, its already happening, we'll end up with tent streets like in the US.
Like many countries Australian government debt is in its trillions, and household debt is massive also. Question is how much longer can it go on and the debt pile up? It will have to be paid back someday?
Anyway we'll see how it all pans out, hope members here don't get in debt or trouble with art, crypto or NFTs 👍

Inflation will soon hit in for a Banksy market, by snoozy on Jan 24, 2022 21:32:48 GMT 1, You quotes about the price of Lurpak are lost here. We are Banksy collectors. Please take your pauper chat elsewhere, us wealthy elite art buyers do not care. Let them eat cake, even if it’s 50p more. I've gone up in the world using lurpak. I used to buy that fake stuff that was one molecule away from being plastic. I'm really not sure where I am with my spread, basically I got sucked in by the ads about 'I can't believe it's not butter' and started using that, but the labels came off and I really couldn't believe that it was 'I can't believe it's not butter' now, I can't believe that 'I can't believe it's not butter' is actually ' I can't believe it's not butter' What bother I'm in now... grrr

The housing market is bollocks. I vote we tax the house equity. If it goes up 5% in a year we pay 2% in tax.
(Don't ask me for detail as I haven't really thought it through yet)
Vote for me!

Also I think I will tax any Fast food at a rate of 50%

Are you proposing 2% of 5% or 40% of the gain? Either way your new application of CGT might prove tricky as a vote winner.
But I feel a policy being developed as we speak.
Bren for PM! Tax the rich! And the fat! Parties every friday

But the benefit rate might need to be adjusted if housing them in belgravia.

Inflation will soon hit in for a Banksy market, by jeezuzjonessnr on May 6, 2022 1:16:39 GMT 1, We are now in May. Been a few months since we talked about inflation.. How is it going in your Country? Well everything is stilling going up in price!!
Here in Australia, following US, UK and other countries we have raised interest rates and a lot more predicted which will cause some pain. My parents said how much electricity, gas and water have gone up back in UK, I was shocked.. Hasn't reached Australia yet but prices will probably follow and go up shortly?.
I think purchasing assets will now slow down quickly and people are/will be starting to tighten up in 2022/23.
How many years is this going to last? We have this terrible war going on (could last years?), China in lockdown (affecting supply chains) and talk from US of global recession. Oof

Inflation will soon hit in for a Banksy market, by withnail69 on May 9, 2022 14:04:42 GMT 1, Historically during inflation time prices of oil, gas, metals and other commodities had risen. Luxury watches like rolex and audemars piguet has already risen too. Now the value of rare coins and comic books has risen by about 20%, while baseball cards are up 15% to 40%, to name a few categories. Soon after crypto hype i guess Banksy value will rise another 60-80 percent in 2 years period. Because banksy is Picasso of 21st century you won’t find any better artist alive. 100% wrong I'm afraid
