She's a Japanese artist on the rise. She just sold out her first solo exhibit at Avenue des arts in Los Angeles. Her secondary art values are quickly exceeding her gallery prices.
She has a central character, called Luv, which is a monster she created, who occupies all her paintings as the central characters.

There are some wonderful pieces here. Shame that itβs a bit of a nightmare (and very expensive!!) to ship and import anything from Japan.

A clear indication of the speculative nature of her collectors' base... I don't see this artist being original, inspirational to other artists or relevant in any way

SBI Art Auctions β’ Japan π―π΅, by sfnyc on Oct 15, 2020 8:18:02 GMT 1, I value integrity, strength and beauty more than market speculation when collecting, although it's fair to say one needs a bit of both. It is my opinion the art is ok/nice but nothing special, but we all know the real interest here driving these prices is mostly speculative.

To be fair, this is your opinion about an artist you just stated don't feel any pull towards, and being without merit.
That makes it easy for you to throw a dig at the fans of her work. My question is why you feel a need to throw a dig at fans of her work at all? Just because you don't find the work having merit, since the artist isn't ticking off the marks, in what you believe to be, the correct boxes?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As such, it isn't dependant on whether or not everyone likes it or finds it to have merit. There are many here and elsewhere who do find it appealing, and have found it to be so for years. I personally happen to like her work. I find her characters to be enigmatic, her color pallet to be pleasing, and the world she's populating with her ideas to be interesting and inclusive. This is my opinion. Some will share it and others will not.
So, please enlighten us! Which artists are worthy of your praise today? Which artists, in your esteem, exceed the threshold, which you have so casually deemed LY not to be meeting?
I am curious which emerging artists you find to be deserving and worthy of your praise? Which artists are you putting your money, and or interest behind?
Please share.

No, I absentee bid from overseas and had shipped to me. All went smooth, was a pleasure. They still send me the nice catalogues too.

SBI Art Auctions β’ Japan π―π΅, by sfnyc on Oct 15, 2020 18:01:07 GMT 1, Dmatt, I m not judging anyone that likes the artist / works, I am only trying to share some insight in regards to the fact many may end up regretting buying at these prices thinking it is worth that.. This year we are seeing irrational exuberance or manipulation in the contemporary scene, especially in Asia and with young Japanese artists. There are natural price points progression in an artist career and what we are seeing today in auctions and new artists being priced like much more established artists is misleading, and it is the result of speculative trends... Look how many original works from icons of urban arts you could buy for the same price... with much more solid ability to retain and grow value

SBI Art Auctions β’ Japan π―π΅, by hnkpnk on Oct 31, 2020 16:37:46 GMT 1, Yes it says BP included in the result catalog, but those were the prices onscreen during the auction. The video is taken down now but you can see my screen shots. So I believe the fees should be added.
Edit: Also all results have very even numbers for fees to be included. For example hammer for Avon and Somerset Constabulary would be Β₯69 565 217 to reach Β₯80 000 000 with 15% BP
