Topps Project70 releases, by 2soonjr on Mar 2, 2021 4:52:00 GMT 1, Topps celebrates 70 Years of baseball cards with a new program that pushes boundaries while paying homage to our heritage. Founded in 1938 as a chewing gum company, Topps released their first baseball card set in 1951. Now seven decades later, artists and creatives around the globe are revisiting and reimagining 70 years of iconic baseball card designs, each selecting their own MLB players and Topps designs to craft a unique story.
In case any of you are baseball/baseball card fans, I thought I'd make a thread for his Project70 releases as they come up. Today's release is Rickey Henderson

Topps Project70 releases, by 2soonjr on Mar 3, 2021 4:19:53 GMT 1, Watch the documentary on baseball cards, and ken griffey jr rookie cards before buying any baseball card for value lol Baseball card market is on FIRE right now. I don't rip packs I just buy singles but it's insane how much the market has jumped over the past year. It is in another bubble, however, it's pretty different from the junk wax era I think that documentary is referring to (haven't watched it). That being said, don't buy Project70 as an investment, buy it because you enjoy the designs. There is money to be made if you randomly get a foil version, or an A/P, bordered card, etc. but as far as the standard cards go there's very little chance you'd be selling at a profit but that's not what this product is geared toward.
Some of these have been really good. I like most of the Gregory Siff cards, along with a slew of others. Yeah there's a lot of great stuff that comes through, even if I'm not interested in purchasing I like seeing the new designs for the day. I picked up one of Siff's cards he did of Griffey during last year's Project 2020 run.

Where's the money these days?

Where's the money these days? Prospecting is huge right now and there's a ton of money in it. There's a lot of avenues you can take in the hobby but so much of it is a gamble, not everyone is going to be the next Mike Trout. I'm just in it for fun and to keep cards in my collection so I collect Griffey, Bo Jackson, Tatis (I'm from San Deigo but I'd be collecting him even if I wasn't since he's amazing), and some vintage. I'm not in it as a source of income or anything. The idea of throwing money into Wander Franco one year, then Jasson Dominguez, then Luis Robert, and so on doesn't appeal to me personally but I can see the draw. You can browse around Blowout to get a better idea of current trends and everything, I'm not into that portion of the hobby outside of some general awareness so I'm honestly not the best source.
I regret not scooping one of these when they were released, impressed with the final result.
Jump on eBay if you still want one, the print run is over but you may just spend a few dollars more than you would have directly from Topps.

Topps Project70 releases, by 2soonjr on Mar 21, 2021 2:35:16 GMT 1,
Hope you get a foil version but either way that's a great looking card! They're pretty quick with the turnaround time on getting these out, A LOT faster than the p2020's.
