Damien Hirst H9 • The Virtues, by jimmyjam on Apr 21, 2021 12:30:32 GMT 1, Yes - this is why about 80%-90% have already been delivered and the one ebay auction is already at $6,300 in less than a day with 6 days left. www.ebay.com/itm/Damien-Hirst-The-Virtues-H9-4-Politeness-Signed-and-Numbered/164822496596?hash=item26602fb554:g:3c8AAOSwyo9gfD3uHold on to your print and don't sell it for less than $ USD 6k right now. Another reason no one is mentioning.. these are HUGE and fuck*n difficult to ship without potential damage. I would not want to be flipping these due to potential shipping damages. I can see a lot of these getting damaged during delivery. The box has no lining so these are not the best to ship around. Anyone who puts one of these up on their walls... it's going to stay up for awhile. I'm still surprised that these are selling so well on the secondary market. Although all the e-bay sales I've seen seem to be in the US rather than elsewhere. Perhaps they weren't advertised very well in the states.
And yet the auction right now on eBay and the most expensive one sold on eBay is from England...
And the gallery that sold one for $usd13,000 is in Hong Kong.
These American comments are just stupid.

Damien Hirst H9 • The Virtues, by jimmyjam on Apr 21, 2021 12:50:16 GMT 1, For anyone who actually follows art - you should know Hirst’s demand far exceeds 99% of the artists on this forum.
Also most major art collectors or even normal art collectors are not on this site and could careless what anyone here thinks.
These editions number are actually not large at all for artist of this size. Look at Koons
These results shouldn’t shock anyone who’s followed Hirst’s career over the years or understand the art market.
Anyone who picked one up should be very happy and the sales will continue to do very well on eBay and at auction in the upcoming months / years. There is a limit to the price on these and I’m sure we will see that next year or the following.
Congrats to anyone who picked one up and be careful of sharks trying to grab one right now. They will make up total BS to take one from your cheap.

Damien Hirst H9 • The Virtues, by Modern Art Collector on Apr 21, 2021 19:15:39 GMT 1, Hey friends, I was expecting some mounting points like the heart :
images.app.goo.gl/WoV6phmUSYyosP9u5
Has anyone got these or has everyone just mounted it off the edge frame?
Much appreciate the input, as I was hoping to float frame it but my framer is saying that might not be possible without mounts
Thanks
Rob

You’d think the EBay listing would at least be correct ?? Both can’t be H9-4 ??

Damien Hirst H9 • The Virtues, by Horatio Nelson on Apr 22, 2021 14:53:17 GMT 1, There are 9 of these currently up on eBay (including the two above).
Market manipulators can always squeeze £1-2k over a new release like this, but time will tell.
I didn’t buy so have no vested interest, but think £3-4K isn’t a terrible price for a signed Hirst of this size, in spite of the large/timed nature of the edition. But I’d much rather/put up something else on my walls. I think these particular images and the medium can appear a little bit nouveau riche chavesque when not installed in the right way, but could like quite spectacular in the right space (e.g. all 8 of them on the wall of a large Regency drawing room...)

Damien Hirst H9 • The Virtues, by Charlie Bronson on Apr 22, 2021 22:00:40 GMT 1, I can’t stress enough how badly these need to be framed. The thinness/lack of width makes them seem anemic when hung up on the wall. A thick frame would make these pieces look so much stronger and have such an imposing presence when hung up. Imho they don’t look good up on the wall not framed. A thick, high gloss white frame or a maple wood of some type would look amazing. Something similar to how my Jordy Kerwick piece is framed, or a darker stain to match the branches more, would look so good. The color/stain would offset the tree well and the thickness of the frame would give the piece a strong presence. Just my 2 cents, fwiw.

This one looks perfect to me:
urbanartassociation.com/post/2075689
Also, the hanging mechanism (what the hell is the proper term for that?) on the back goes all the way around which makes it float from the wall - something that isn't really picked up in the photos.
That all said, I think they would look great in a white tray frame. I just can't be arsed getting it done right now.

Damien Hirst H9 • The Virtues, by jimmyjam on Apr 22, 2021 23:05:50 GMT 1, I'm sure the cost or even the idea of the cost of framing one has put many people off. I totally understand that. Framing is the forgotten cost in this hobby that slaps you in the face sometimes... That is why I'm sure unfortunately a lot of these will be slightly sun damaged in 10-15 years.
A nicer frame, with a strong strainer, and Uv museum Plexi (no glass on something this large, weight would be insane) - will cost a lot. Also the weight after it being framed could be an issue for some. My larger Heni framed are extremely heavy (with UV Plexiglas not glass). You need to use toggle bolts for them to securely hang them.
I spoke to a very famous framing company in NYC -they told me that even with UV museum Plexiglas in a sunny room - damage will probably still happen. I knew this from photographers I worked with as well. It will be slight but it still occurs. So people who really are arguing about not framing should really reconsider. If cost is an issues I understand that though.

Damien Hirst H9 • The Virtues, by jamo on Apr 23, 2021 11:25:27 GMT 1, I don't understand why people are obsessed with framing these things. It's a dibond. Dibonds are not normally framed. Go in to Tate Modern. They have a couple of dibond prints on display. They are not framed. Go in to any art gallery or museum and I would be very surprised if you see a dibond print framed. People are free, of course, to do what they want in the privacy of their own homes but, like I said, dibonds are not usually framed.
Personally, I agree. No messing with frames and glass. Just hang! Not in sunlight, obviously. As intended / designed. Of course, everyone can do whatever they want but I’m all for simplicity. Will be hung as is, like my Heni Richter and other Hirsts. In a hallway with no natural light.

In most homes the only place without exposure to light is the hall. The very simple thing to state is that HENI don't disclose the level of UV protection the prints have. The only reason for that must be because it is very low. Otherwise, they'd be shouting it from the roof tops.
