Always seems a shame when this happens?

Have had a previous conversation with Brandler a few years back and came away with the strong feeling he really hadn't got much of a clue about Banksy. Obviously has access to a load of £££ and contacts, but this sort of activity leaves a bad taste - particularly when dressed up as 'saving' the artwork. Needless to say at some point this will be sold on for decent profit to a private collector and never be seen again.....

A real shame, but I suppose if he did something on my place here, you have the financial Shysters after it, and also the people visiting, a difficult one.

Surely down to the local authorities to step in, and locate in a place in the town where it can be continued to be enjoyed? Bit like the Thekla piece in Bristol?

Just grates that these pieces in the hands of people just trying to profit, seems a shame.

I’d be selling it if one turned up on my wall, no question about it. Art is lovely but we are talking life changing money for most people...

I'm with plurker, appreciate the financial gain, but surely these pieces need to be preserved, so that people can enjoy them in the future?

Always remember seeing the Thekla piece in Bristol at The Shed, and quite something to enjoy and cherish.

What would Brandler have paid for this, £300k? Would a museum be able to pay a big sum to keep this... I doubt it.

True iamzero, appreciate the figures involved here, but surely a bit of moral obligation required from the person who now owns it?

Would be a sad state of affairs if its a 'take it and run' attitude?

Perhaps a sentimental viewpoint, but from someone who has traipsed around Bristol, London etc looking at what this fella has done, and just feel they need to be enjoyed in the future to a wider audience?

I'd be looking to sell to a museum, Nottingham Contemporary, Bristol, or another, rather than some shyster

It’s a nice thought and I’d like to think that too but realistically the amount of money difference we are talking between a museum or a private collector will probably be in the high tens if not hundreds of thousands. It’s never going to happen to me so it’s a daft conversation but I think it’s easy to say what you’d do until you’ve got two vastly different offers in front of you.

I'm one of those weirdos who, were I to win 10 million quid, would give away 8 million though, tbf

I just don’t blame them for selling to the highest bidder... I’m sure the achoo on the hill were selling their house for around 300k just before it was painted. I’d be surprised if they didn’t get more than that privately just for the bit of wall.
