Any Watch Collectors?, by dan993c2 on May 20, 2022 13:23:14 GMT 1, I am here for a quick suggestion: I walked in a Patek AD today and was offered the possibility to place an order for a 5205g by putting down 25% refundable. I was wondering what should I make sure of to ask and receive at the time of the order, things to pay attention to, etc...it's the first big watch purchase and want to make sure not to make any mistake. I am assuming that, by placing an order, I'm in a different situation than those on the waitlist. Please correct me if I am wrong. This is Tourneau, so I am also hoping to create a long lasting relationship since they sell multiple brands. I also really liked the 5396R, but the AD is going to check if an order can be placed for that one. Suggestions?

They are a large chain of AD for most of the brands including rolex, pp, jlc, iwc, etc. Ended up leaving a deposit for the 5205g and purchased an IWC portugieser yacht club. Came back today and the AD mentioned some dispute about various orders with PP, which cancelled some, and they will try to figure out what to do in the next couple of weeks. In the meanwhile they have the deposit...

In the meanwhile they have the deposit... I personally have never been asked to leave a deposit when a watch has been ordered, never a PP though. My SA has made it clear that the watch was being ordered for me and that I would be expected to purchase said watch. If you are serious about building a collection and your SA sees your are a genuine collector from my experience this only pays off in the long term. For me it is of upmost importance that you build a relationship with a genuine SA as these people will be your point of contact. |
