Did either of you get a motion sickness type feeling looking at them?
Ain't art great! You can see an image on a screen and then see it in the flesh..

LOL, so funny you said that, scrolling along on my phone, I thought that it looked similar to an old Vasarely I used to have back in the day
edit, yeah on the laptop I can see the sig although not one of his clearest, but the dots really give it away, I always equate Riley with lines.

Bridget Riley π¬π§ Print Release, Exhibition, Print For Sale, by curiousgeorge on Jul 7, 2014 23:33:30 GMT 1, You are indeed good Ceri!
Funny I saw the Riley while checking out Hirst's retrospective with all the bells and whistles..And as if it was yesterday I'm standing in front of one of the Nineteen Greys.
To this day I still have the Hirst and Riley itch to scratch

Bridget Riley π¬π§ Print Release, Exhibition, Print For Sale, by johnnyh on Jul 7, 2014 23:46:23 GMT 1, Due to their ages and times pretty sure Vasarely would have been an influence on her work and likewise pretty sure they would have met at times etc...note that's not based on anything other than feeling. This early piece by her seems to have a real connection with Vasarely. Must say I am a big fan of Vasarely

This early piece by her seems to have a real connection with Vasarely. Must say I am a big fan of Vasarely Vasarely is considered the godfather of Optical Art and was working from the 30's onwards. All of the Op artists from the 60's and 70's knew each other and often exhibited together. The art became increasingly popular thanks to galleries like Denise Rene in Paris and New York and the ground breaking 1965 show at MOMA in NY entitled The Responsive Eye. Vasarely and Riley were both included in the show, which included many of the other great op artists from this period.

Bridget Riley π¬π§ Print Release, Exhibition, Print For Sale, by Young Squire on Jul 8, 2014 9:59:09 GMT 1, How often does Bridget release prints? And who sells them on her behalf? Anyone have any info? Not that often. Maybe once every 12-18 mths sometimes a couple at a time and usually in small editions.
Try Karston Schubert. I went on the hunt having missed the Olympic release by a few seconds and havent been able to find anything I like within my price range since.

Bridget Riley π¬π§ Print Release, Exhibition, Print For Sale, by Gard on Jul 8, 2014 10:59:44 GMT 1, Looks like an amazing exhibition. I first discovered her work at Art Basel a couple of weeks ago. I love geometric art, it has something soothing over it. Here's some more examples from Art Basel of similar kind works
Gerhard Richter (detail)
Ian Davenport
Terry Haggerty

Bridget Riley π¬π§ Print Release, Exhibition, Print For Sale, by The Jokers Puppet on Jul 10, 2014 12:53:55 GMT 1, If you like OpArt check out Peter Sedgley. He and Bridget were an item for 10 years through the 60's and he pretty much launched her career. Based in Berlin most of the time he is unfortunately not as well recognised despite having piece in the Tate and museums throughout the world. The first piece below is called May Day (sorry crap photo) done in the early 80's. The target paintings are what he is more well known for. First to experiment in the 60's with shining different coloured light which changed the composition of the piece which appeared to pulse. Really cool.
