Bridget Riley π¬π§ Print Release, Exhibition, Print For Sale, by afroken on Jan 20, 2008 22:44:06 GMT 1, Ok, so it's not urban art, but people on here have pretty diverse tastes so here goes.
I am looking to sell one the pieces below. They are all very special to me, but the urge to own a Parla is just too strong. If i'm to afford an original, then something's got to go.
I don't want to sell more than one, so i guess I'm testing the waters a little by posting all three. Anyway, on to the art...
These are all huge, beautifully framed (to museum standards) and from very low editions for these particular artists. I'm pretty clear about what they are worth but would rather discuss values/offers by PM, if you're interested in any of them. They all have rock solid provenance. Apologies for the less than perfect photos.
Damien Hirst 'In The Groove' signed by the artist edition of 68 2002 etching on 350 gsm Hahnemuehle paper Float mounted in a white box frame 124 x 104cm, framed
Julian Opie 'Ruth Smoking 4' signed and numbered by the artist on the reverse number 6 in an edition of 50 2006 Screenprint Float mounted in hand gilded silver/brown frame to the artist's specification (with perspex on reverse to reveal signature and number) 132 x 97cm, framed
Bridget Riley 'Large Fragment' Signed, titled and numbered by the artist number 6 in an edition of 50 2006 Screenprint Float mounted in a white box frame to the artist's specification 135 x 116cm, framed

Bridget Riley π¬π§ Print Release, Exhibition, Print For Sale, by RetroCanvas on Jan 20, 2008 22:51:54 GMT 1, I won't make an offer on the Bridget Riley as I know it will be out of my reach but... I've always wanted a Bridget Riley piece. My first chioce would be an early Black and White Study, the ones with all the workings out on em. Her work is just amazing, I know a lot of people wouldn't understand but after reading her books and going to a few exhibitions, it's very hard not to appreciate her stuff. I hope, for your sake, that the Riley doesn't go.
Respect

I must have spent 2 hours stood in front of both trying to decide which one to buy. The "circular head" ones are fantastic too, but in the end it cam down to scale. These ones are much bigger and Opie needs scale

Something not a lot of people know about these was that the printing plates were made one day in July 2002 by Hirst himself. The plates were put on the spin machine and he used any tools he could find, from screw drivers to battery acid, to make marks in them. He also scratched the names, dates, etc on the plates by hand, but obviously had to write backwards so they look like the scribblings of a mad man. When you look at this print you can see he had a lot of fun doing it.
I think this story makes them much more interesting than the mechanical precise nature of the spot etchings.

Bridget Riley π¬π§ Print Release, Exhibition, Print For Sale, by Poppy Sunshine on Jan 23, 2008 20:45:02 GMT 1, Always fancied an Opie but never got round to it. Also, I hadn't seen any Polly Morgan things outside of a gallery before. Very nice but I'm not even asking as you'll make me want it and I can't afford it.

Bridget Riley π¬π§ Print Release, Exhibition, Print For Sale, by gilsteph on Feb 24, 2008 0:47:36 GMT 1, All cool artists! Would have any of these on my walls!!!
I have always liked Hirsts work, not sure why we dont talk more about him on this forum. He helped create a buzz about British art that few people before him did. I was lucky enough to get a war child picture years ago (small but beautiful! If a bit of a $hitty picture!)
PS for all you Mancs....Newcastle were pi$$ poor!! Have been drowing my sorrows ever since the game finished! Expected us to lose but not play so poorly

Bridget Riley π¬π§ Print Release, Exhibition, Print For Sale, by afroken on Sept 28, 2008 21:22:46 GMT 1, Having won the Herakut at the Graffle auction I need to clear the only wall in my place that's big enough to hang it on.
So, I'm offering up my Bridget Riley for sale or swap. It's huge and stunning - photos don't do the vibrant colours justice.
I bought the piece for about Β£5,550 all in from Riley's primary gallery (Timothy Tailor Gallery) a couple of years ago, so all the paperwork is in order. They had it framed for me by Riley's framers to the artist's exact specification using all the archive materials that you'd expect.
I'm looking for swaps in the same price bracket. I'm interested in signed Banksy prints, Neate street pieces, Faile originals on paper, BAST originals, and Supine originals.
Alternatively I'm looking for offers in the region of Β£4,750 cash, which is a great deal for someone. You wont find one for that price or less. I saw one at the Islington Art Fair this year for Β£7.5k.
Here are the details:
Large Fragment number 6 from an edition of 50 screen print on paper float mounted in a white box frame 135x116cm

Hmm, I thought Karsten Schubert Gallery are her main agent? They represent her, have published prints and put together her print catalogue raisone via their Ridinghouse imprint. I've not heard of Timothy Tailor before.
It's a lovely print - and I'm tempted!

Bridget Riley π¬π§ Print Release, Exhibition, Print For Sale, by dotdot on Sept 30, 2008 16:21:29 GMT 1, I'm interested as well - having followed B Riley for an age - her show in Paris was fantastic....
Alas I likewise am not flush in pennies let alone cash for a print ....let alone something of the stature of a BR print.
good luck
