Exactly my thoughts!

10 years ago, you wouldn’t have really heard of someone like Jordy, but IG has really changed the art world (for the better) for artists like him.

I think it’s cool, but will be very interesting to see how all these “emerging” artists fit into the cannon, as there sure are a lot more of them! Hopefully there’s room for everyone 😬

Could of said that about invader a few years back, prints and kits. Didn’t stop his prices shooting.

Jk has three print releases and originals.

That's exactly my point; Invader and Banksy are two street artists who I would argue have made a case to be included in the cannon of art history. Not every emerging artist will though, and as there seems to be more and more being "hyped" every day (which I truly attribute to IG), many are bound to be left in the dust (unfortunately). 

I wish the absolute best for every artist out there, and hope they all have long and successful careers, but garagespace makes a valid point in that if people buy to try and profit quickly, it could potentially ruin the artist's career.

Exactly. Jordy makes good art but the big hype art collectors on Instagram have succeeded in hyping and pumping his work. Hence threads like this existing. Hopefully all works will go to good secure collections and his galleries start protecting the work.

Yeah he does. Maybe his galleries should encourage tighter supply. It’s a balance I suppose. You need collectors with deeper pockets willing to acquire the works at higher prices if you start pulling back on supply.

I really like Jordy's work, getting a vibe of a Jonas Woor/Robert Nava mix which i really enjoy. Haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet but he has a show opening in Athens soon alongside Bel Fullana next week or something, so I hope to be able to pick up something that I like there.

Thanks, kuni. I frame any that I hang up. For some reason I feel like a proper frame on a canvas gives it a little something extra in terms of aesthetics. Also, a thicker width on the wall always looks good to the eye imho. With this frame, I wanted it to match the 60’s modeline comet lamp. Kind of ties the space together imho.
