I bought a soup can recently-- good provenance, etc.-- but unfortunately the USPS managed to mangle the tubes (2!) it was in and the poster itself. This wrinkling is all down the right side of the poster. I am talking to the seller about whether they had insurance and all, but how bad in general do you think the value has been dinged? I have to decide if I want to try to return it or just frame it and see how it holds up.

That's unfortunate. I'd try to get a partial refund and keep it.

Depends what you paid for it and if you can live with it. Not sure if the logic is the same, but I used to buy dented tins of baked beans at the end of the shopping aisle for about 10p when the retail was about 30p. They tasted the same as all the non dented tins of beans, but most shoppers that could afford it still bought the non dented.

There are too many of them to expect to be near the value still of a mint condition poster £1200?
The damage will bug you
Postal insurance will cover the value of the poster , get a refund and purchase again , lots come to the market and they are not rare yet , and with the latest pow release few years back ,many are in good condition until a few more are damageD in postal transit

I paid (note, US not pounds) $1900. It was in essentially pristine condition until today.

I received a damaged item last year, not a print but an expensive book that got damaged in transit so I sent them photos of the damage and they refunded the money and let me keep the book so with your situation you’ve got nothing to lose by bringing it to their attention as it will bug you if you don’t...nothing ventured and all that...

You paid good money, so if the seller had it insured, I would go that route and buy another.

It happened to me recently with a poster I had been after for many years, it turned up squashed with the end missing totally wrecked I was gutted. Hope you get it all sorted out.

If the guy has any sense he will of sent out fully insured for that price so you should be covered?

I personally couldn’t live with that after splashing out that much cash...

You will never look at it without noticing the damage. I wouldn't keep it.

I'm a bit concerned that you don't know whether the seller had insurance or not. When it comes to shipping anything of value I always insist on insurance as both a buyer and a seller. I personally think the onus is on both parties to ensure that this point is covered off up-front.

You could Send it back and get a full refund however you might not get one for the same price as prices have gone up.

If you are looking to frame it, that dent is going to bug you

I hear you- I’m a bit too lac maybe in relying on American Express and Ebay buyer protections. I did confirm seller has to refund me in full, and failing that I have some backstops with my financial institutions.

Ok, I am returning mine and getting a refund. If anyone has a POW Soup Can w/ solid provenance (such as invoice and tube) they want to unload I am back in the market.
