I thought there were other threads but couldn't find them so thought i'd start a new one.
What do you collect besides art and is it for the love or investment?

I'm thinking of collecting Alcohol. It will always have a use and there are some nice designs of both bottles and label artwork.

Books, old and rare computers and consoles, autographs. Have a decent sized watch collection - 50s and 60s stuff, mainly, but never get to wear most so have stopped for the most part. I inherited my dad's cigarette packet collection - 6 bin bags full! Most were worthless, but managed to get some decent bits out of the mix, so I have those too.

Magnets and good memories. I travelled a lot in my life and tried to buy magnets in every place I've been. Now I have tons of magnets which are somewhere in unpacked boxes. With covid travels became more rare and difficult but still possible. I ordered myself a lot of good quality masks and sanitizers from online pharmacy and they are just wanting to be taken on my next trip.

I share my grandfather's passion in 78’rpm shellac records like Comedian Harmonists or Edith Piaf. And I collect the black gold in rare good old hip hop and break beats.

Fridge magnets from cities I have visited.

At the moment I am also collecting old spectacles. The plan is to restore / sell anything old and interesting and use the money from them and the other spectacles for people who do not qualify for NHS funding due to no address.
It is strangely therapeutic going through them all and fixing them up.

I always buy a Starbucks Mug if I have visited a city that sells them, I have quite a lot. When I was in Seattle and went to Pike Place people were queuing around the block, however I didn’t see anyone buying coffee, ironically everyone was buying mugs. I don’t even like coffee!

Not really a collection as such, but I have found myself with 6 guitars (and a very cheap Jedson that I made into a slide guitar) and about 600 vinyl LPs.

Used to love a good rummage through a second hand record shop 5-10 years ago picking up mystery buys for £1-£2. Can't be bothered now, too expensive
