Sotheby's Art Auctions β’ LONDON π¬π§, by adrscib on Jun 18, 2007 15:56:49 GMT 1, probably he wanted it desperately so he scared off other bidders.... if he shouted that he most probably has done his homework well. if its not worth for us, for him its worth... he may be regretting it now but wont in years to come.

Sotheby's Art Auctions β’ LONDON π¬π§, by jam on Jun 18, 2007 17:30:40 GMT 1, I have bid in a similar manner at Christies and Sothebys... never went an 80% jump but I have done 30-40%. It puts off dreamer bidders that create a rally of sorts, it can be very effective. Sounds like the bidder today went slightly mad with his jump though!

Sotheby's Art Auctions β’ LONDON π¬π§, by carlito on Jun 18, 2007 17:35:52 GMT 1, I was just at sothebys for the sale - it was weird with the first banksy piece - the designated graffiti area - the bidding started at 7k then suddenly this chump just shouts 30,000! the room just went quiet and this bloke ended up with it for 30 + premium - reckon it would have been quite a bit less if he had just bidded normally - he went all red and blotchy afterwards so i reckon he realised he had acted like a bit of a kn*b! On another point in the flesh the love rat didnt look very impressive i was surprised at how small it was - didnt bother hanging around to see how much it goes for but my guess is between 30 - 40K
probably one of those private equity managers..who had one to many at lunchtime....

Sotheby's Art Auctions β’ LONDON π¬π§, by lardy on Jun 22, 2007 13:16:19 GMT 1, This is ace!
Always perplexed me though. Do people wait until the very last second to bid purely for the theatre of it all?
Fair warning, last chance. Haha.

Sotheby's Art Auctions β’ LONDON π¬π§, by lardy on Jun 22, 2007 13:19:49 GMT 1, He's quite pally with the lisa girl.
Better than doing work.
Looks like the banksys will be starting in the session at 2.30. They are all off for lunch now. Id want anything of mine sold in the afternoon after theyve all been in the pub for a few beers.
