Sotheby's Art Auctions β’ LONDON π¬π§, by slowmo on Feb 15, 2007 12:08:15 GMT 1, 130077899753. Is this the highest price for an unsigned BME yet? It was always a popular one, now the original is worth Β£102,000 it seems even more valuable.
Wonder what it will end on!

These long, thin prints have always been worth a llittle less than the other popular 50x70 ones... this is now right back above them now.

Seems like everyone has been tight with the cash over Christmas, and its only now that people are realising the prices are gonna keep going up, so its now or never

One of those micallef pieces was sold by neaksmate on the other forum. He's probably spent all the cash on other new bits of art though.

Sotheby's Art Auctions β’ LONDON π¬π§, by adrscib on Jun 18, 2007 14:54:20 GMT 1, although i dont own any micallef... I am happy for him as an artist in general... it shows that even though he is being hyped by banksy.... he has also established himself and the price level he commands signify he a capable artist for his unique style. I am also proud and happy of his maltese connection (since he bears maltese surname and maltese descendants).

Sotheby's Art Auctions β’ LONDON π¬π§, by adrscib on Jun 18, 2007 14:56:59 GMT 1, LOVE RAT estimate.
Based on todays prices (which are similar to february auction - when bombing middle england was sold)... this will go for GBP 40k for the size of its canvas.
I have calculated his price level is GBP 135k per sq.metre. Now if you value the artistic quality or significance of the art this may go double, which implies a price of GBP 100k+.
If that happens, this will set another 20-30% rise in general print prices to make them even less affordable.
LOVE RAT estimate.

Sotheby's Art Auctions β’ LONDON π¬π§, by adrscib on Jun 18, 2007 15:07:02 GMT 1, no art should be priced for its artistic value first.... but yes it can be priced that way too... just like real estate...... it is priced by location first and area afterwards. So goes for art....

Sotheby's Art Auctions β’ LONDON π¬π§, by birdboxsniper on Jun 18, 2007 15:36:35 GMT 1, I was just at sothebys for the sale - it was weird with the first banksy piece - the designated graffiti area - the bidding started at 7k then suddenly this chump just shouts 30,000! the room just went quiet and this bloke ended up with it for 30 + premium - reckon it would have been quite a bit less if he had just bidded normally - he went all red and blotchy afterwards so i reckon he realised he had acted like a bit of a kn*b! On another point in the flesh the love rat didnt look very impressive i was surprised at how small it was - didnt bother hanging around to see how much it goes for but my guess is between 30 - 40K
