Thanks for posting, be interesting to see where the prices sit. Some very nice pieces and that signed Trolleys is in my top 5. Also, surely that Rude copper gets snapped up.

There were 26 prints auctioned yesterday. It looks like 7 failed to make the reserve and most of the others hammered at the lower end of the estimate.

A couple of them actually had the reserve lifted to achieve a sale, the Napalm AP being one of them. Not a good day for sellers.

Flags hammered at £8k and Monkey Queen failed to even muster a bid of £8k. Grin Reaper didn't receive any bids at £40k and the one that surprised me most was a signed soup can edition of 50 not having any bids at £30k.

Weston Super Mare - £15k, HAND - £20k & Laugh Now - £40k All unsigned did pretty well in the current market.

I thought Christie’s were the first to announce 20% buyers fees a few weeks back so yes hopefully all will follow suit. It’s a ridiculous concept that auction houses have gotten away with for too long now. How they charge the buyer and the seller is just wrong. Anything to bring these charges down is hugely welcomed!!

As anlways it’s all in the way they spin it. As you say now the sellers get hurt even more, go figure! I’m sure I saw an article saying their poll shows that 90% of buyers prefer it. Wow that is an amazing reaction 🤣🤣🤔 maybe they need to do a poll from the sellers because it won’t be 90% positive!!!

Let’s always drastically underestimate values in order to “elicit bids” and then claim we “smashed estimates.” It’s all a charade, and now they’re calling it a success fee. I wish I could set my targets so ludicrously low to make myself seem more successful.

Outrageous, I pay between 0-5%. Usually zero if it's over £10k. Even get some of the buyers premium from some places if it's a really decent lot with competitive estimate.

Unless you're selling pieces for millions it's an absolute joke. Property agents/auctioneers charge 1-2% of value, deals take far longer and are often far more complex, yet they have large profitable and viable businesses. I know from working in the business and watching fees go from 4-5% to 1% in 20 years that business can adapt and still thrive. 

None of the large auction houses have modernised, they run flabby businesses, have huge overheads and greedy ownership. I really can't wait for someone to come along an eat their lunch. It will happen in next 10-20 years.

Surprised LIITA didn’t sell.. £250k 3 years ago and now no buyers at £25k!

I’m in London at the minute and took a run into Sothebys this morning. Some of the prints were not in the best shape - noticeable finger prints and edge dings. Also a couple of double numbers. Suspect that might put a few off - I’d want mint in today’s market, and based on pricing would hold out for the right one to come up. Mixed results likely to be the way forward for a while I think……

Having read most of the condition reports it sounded like a shit show! A load of ‘damaged’ prints priced/valued aggressively right in the middle of a paranoid market!

Was a shit auction. same old lots as always, most estimates were too high, condition on many was shocking, a few lots outperformed the market but the rest either passed or sold below what the seller would have netted from a private sale. It's a really lazy model, and one they need to really rethink, right now I wouldn't consign anything Banksy related to Sothebys especially with the new fee regime and in this market, it's embarrassing.

Me too, especially given Pulp Fiction sold for £36k all in, when did Pulp Fiction become worth more than LIITA?
