At this moment in time this ‘work’ appears to be just a publicity stunt.
Where is the boat now? Was Banksy even involved or is he just marketing his brand on the side of the boat?
Everyone eats this up as the great Banksy saving the world yet a day later poof. He’s gone.

My bad. You right Banksy out on boat now live tweeting he’s saving a bunch of people. Also, says he’s giving each one of them an OG stencil. What a guy!

Does it? You dont think it's creating awareness of what is happening?
I dont know where the boat is now, do You? why the question?
Banksy bought the boat I believe, happy to be corrected
I don't think anyone thinks Banksy is saving the world, however he does more good than harm, it's pretty easy to do nothing and type hatred. However organising things like this do take time and effort and saving lives is a pretty good thing right?
How many lives have we saved this year?
Yet you see what he has done here as a negative, why is that?

I didn’t say it was a negative. IE the original action of saving lives.
I see it as a double standard. And I see it as potentially a marketing publicity stunt.
Like I said, how many times have we seen this pony show? Rich celebrity attaches name and brand to ‘good deed’ and then disappears. Do you see that as a good thing?

In the case of Banksy I think your incredibly cynical considering he has put vast personal money where his mouth is and invested in assets which attack problems directly. WOH, rescue ships...What better a direct impact can someone have.
He also uses his powerful PR to raise awareness of world issues or miss justice that deserves our attention.
I myself have educated myself on many of these problems as a direct result of Banksy and have started to fund some of these charities, including Choose Love for example. I’m also looking forward to visiting Palestine in order to get a better understanding of this situation.
I understand your celebrity double standards theory but believe your pessimism is misplaced here.

But WOH and this ship are completely different in execution.
I stated it when WOH opened. I was concerned it would be open for a month of that and fade into nothing. I criticized that aspect from the onset. I however was pleased as it lasted so long and turned into a full functioning hotel and not just a PR stunt or grab the attention spotlight for a short amount of time. It aged well and I changed my mind about it.
This ship has not done that. It’s a missed opportunity at this point and that is very unfortunate. I hope to be wrong but so far there is no hint this ship will have more then one run. To me that is a shame and falls to the celebrity double standard category.
Banksy successes with WOH. Oddly this appears to be a flop. Saying they are the same is incorrect. And that’s my issue. (At least at this point).

Do you evidence of this? Or is it just rhetoric?
I have no evidence it isn’t, so genuinely interested in why you say so for my own knowledge. Would be sad to think it wasn’t at least trying to help people in need, regardless of the connection to Banksy, but I’m a glass half full kind of person.

Well the fact they haven’t updated since 9/9 is very odd for a boat trying to make a situation more public.
I’m a half full kind of guy too but there comes a time when healthy criticism is good. Unfortunately many Banksy fans have trouble with this.

Banksy funds Refugee Rescue boat, by saint on Sept 25, 2020 15:18:23 GMT 1, Do you evidence of this? Or is it just rhetoric? I have no evidence it isn’t, so genuinely interested in why you say so for my own knowledge. Would be sad to think it wasn’t at least trying to help people in need, regardless of the connection to Banksy, but I’m a glass half full kind of person. Well the fact they haven’t updated since 9/9 is very odd for a boat trying to make a situation more public. I’m a half full kind of guy too but there comes a time when healthy criticism is good. Unfortunately many Banksy fans have trouble with this. So no, and yes are the answers to my questions? You have no evidence to back up your statement?
Totally agreed, many Banksy haters seem to have trouble with it also, especially by mistaking criticism for supposition.
