There's a small alias to be auctioned in 10 days: www.sothebys.com/en/buy/auction/2020/contemporary-art-day-sale-2/invader-alias-pa-418?locale=enIt's not one of his best, but it's a decent one for the size. I doubt it will sell for more than $40k making it only twice as expensive as the ik18 sold for $20k. It makes a little sense to me. Is it the "collect them all" mentality? Why do you doubt it won't sell for > $40k?

Auction prices are indeed high for kits, , but for some reason these prices don’t seem achievable in private sales
To my knowledge few / no kitS have sold over 9k£ private recently. Anything above that just sits (see eBay and recent sales attempts on here)
