Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by jonti on Aug 14, 2014 1:38:57 GMT 1, Good, thats what it was for, loads more enjoyment out of it than banging it up on the wall. Same nonsense with keeping invasion kits in their bags etc.... Last year, I was able to have a quick chat with Invader. I'd been interested in hearing his thoughts on the paradox resulting from his Invasion Kits having increased significantly in value over the years: The kits kept sealed are more desirable to collectors than those where the packaging has been opened and the tiles are cemented to walls or just framed. In other words, the active and more visually-appealing way of promoting the invasion is now, in effect, financially discouraged. An easy comparison can be made with comic book collectors who keep their rare, sought-after first editions in archival conditions instead of reading and enjoying them as regular comic books. Invader's response was that, for him, the kits are conceptual pieces — rather than artworks in the traditional sense necessarily intended to be exhibited. The importance lies in the idea, more so than the visual presentation of the idea. In this respect, Invader had no issue with Invasion Kits being left intact as complete kits, sealed and unviewed in a drawer. He felt such a decision by collectors, and different way of appreciating the kits, was just as valid as removing the assembled tiles from their packaging and hanging them up. It was a perspective I had not previously considered. Excellent. And, I believe, the pure point of conceptualism.

Nice those clown decks though =]

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by Deleted on Aug 14, 2014 16:55:07 GMT 1, Native advertising?? Hope not as I have much respect for Castle.... No I don't work that way at all Nacional, I like things straight forward as possible without the games and bull. The board isn't mine, I was contacted via the website by the owner who wanted to know if I could advise him on value as hes been asked would he sell it by some who saw it on his instagram, I told him I hadn't a clue then asked on here to see if anyone knew so I could pass on the info to him, call it research and helping someone out at the same time, I've had interest via pm on the board and I said I would email the guy and let him know and if he was interested in selling I'd hook them up directly, no money involved.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by MGK1 on Mar 1, 2015 18:33:33 GMT 1, I have for sale a Banksy Clown Skateboard which has never been skated. These were released in 2000 by Bristol based 'Clown Skateboards' which sadly no longer exists. Clown also collaborated with Adam Neate.
This is an official collaboration with Banksy and is probably one of the first commercial works he ever did.
I'm told only 100 of these were ever made and i've never seen one come up for sale before - this deck is pretty much the king of Banksy ephemera!
It's accompanied by rock solid provenance.
PM me for more info and photos and/or to make an offer.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by MGK1 on Mar 5, 2015 17:11:24 GMT 1, Nice piece, could you post a photo of the other side of the deck or at least tell me what colour it is? PM me if you prefer. The topside of the deck is wood, stained dark green.
The deck is now sold - thanks for all the interest.

I have one of these myself but it's still in the shrink wrap and the OCD in me won't allow me to set it up. Congrats on the sale, I imagine it went for more than I would have paid to thrash it anyway. Lords of Pork: Please get in touch with me if you ever decide to sell the one still in the shrink wrap.. will pm you my email just so you have it in case..!

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by treblenobass on Dec 10, 2019 20:45:08 GMT 1, The background of this piece comes in the form of Banksy producing this image for Clown Skateboards way back in around 2000 / 2001 & I know the graphic was taken from a Dead Presidents album cover I will attach a photo so you can see the process Banksy used.
I obtained this deck from my friend Mark Calape some years ago who’s name is on the deck itself as a sponsored rider of the Clown Skateboards team. Banksy produced only this graphic for the company but it was used in full on a few other decks in various colourways of which I will also attach a magazine snippet I own showing this.
I have seen only one or two Clown Skateboards decks surface in the past 10 - 15 years after the company seemingly vanished after being quite prolific in the company’s early days.
I am currently looking to take offers but can say this graphic is very limited & I am currently trying to obtain exact numbers produced of this particular graphic as the other design / team deck in multiple colourways I know was more readily available.
Please do let me know your thoughts’ 💭
