Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by Cool User Name on Aug 20, 2020 11:35:17 GMT 1, Read the finer detail In this DROP 100 released 🙄😉 yep, and also says "1 off special to celebrate Clown is back from 20:08:20"
I don't think it would make any sense to produce more at a later date considering its to mark this occasion

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by iamzero on Aug 20, 2020 11:40:38 GMT 1, probably easy to figure out who that is and cancel. can't imagine tons of buyers were from portugal, although i might be mistaken. orders will be cancelled for sure I would imagine as tees aren’t being shipped until next month.
If I had a company that was primarily concerned in making money I wouldn’t care what buyers did with the overpriced T-shirt I just sold them.

Skateboard company utilizing films from 20 years ago to pull more money out of sheep are being considered originals now?
I guess when you see new di faced tenners after the plates have been purchased, in your eyes, would also be original?
I fee like this mindset is the reason why people constantly buy up banksy books and other random items not necessarily associated with banksy but once was.
Must be wcp /mrs banksy collector
Nope 🤣 i believe they are no different than Etsy and those canvas websites.
urbanartassociation.com/thread/165300/wanted-ben-eine-canvas
But to be fair I think the two you have mentioned at least don’t have a recorded of physical abuse with their partners or being charged with assault on a female while simultaneously trying to displace the blame and trying to justify punching a female in the face.
But I guess everyone has their own taste, yours seems to have a little blood in it 😂

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by treblenobass on Aug 20, 2020 14:48:04 GMT 1, It appears Banksy designed and approved the Clown decks in 2000, i've no idea if he approves of this latest batch though they do say he approved producing 100 of each but back then they only made 20.
Here's the thing I don't get, they say Banksy 'approved producing 100 of each deck but only made 20', and yet the company went on to produce hundreds, maybe thousands, of the same deck.
They've failed to mention this anywhere since rebirthing the company this year, focusing solely on the approval of the test decks only.
Deliberately disingenuous marketing?
Incorrect. The initial Clown Skateboards Banksy Test Press series was authenticated by the artist to be a 3 deck series with 100 of each deck allowed to be produced of which only 20 of each were printed & skated by the Clown Skateboards team riders at the time (year 2000) of which weren’t numbered / authenticated officially at the time. These remaining 80 sets of the 3 deck series have been numbered & stamped officially by Clown Skateboards. I believe that back in the early 00s various colourways of the Banksy Clown deck were produced once again in 100 deck runs as agreed by the artist but after the acetate screens have been used this final time to complete the initial Test Press Series these screens will be retired.
Please see the original magazine article from the Clown Skateboards team below when they launched the company in 2000.

So essentially there are 100 numbered sets , and an open edition of several 100 ? All made with the same screens which will be destroyed in a few months ?
No taking the piss, just trying to see if I got it right because I do find the whole story a bit fuzzy

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by Happy Shopper on Aug 20, 2020 15:37:59 GMT 1, I'm not sure you understand the nature of collecting. By this logic, any copy is as attractive as owning an original ? Skateboard company utilizing films from 20 years ago to pull more money out of sheep are being considered originals now? Exactly, utilising the original films... and endorsed by Banksy (That's the important part you missed). That's the difference here. Not made by some other person, or a poor copy.

All 3 designs weren't very popular, BUT they did make larger runs of the clown logo design in different colours (mostly red and black, which you often see for sale) But now they're going back and making the rest of the original run (another 80 sets)
So, there's a ton of the clown decks out there in other colour versions, but the other 2 designs are rarer.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by Happy Shopper on Aug 20, 2020 16:53:23 GMT 1, Here's a good explanation of the versions, from their website. Seems clear:
"Clown was launched with the BANKSY TEST PRESS series in August 2000 with an initial run of 20 of each board - all hand printed, produced to gauge interest with shops and our first team members. Just like dubplates in music we wanted to know which got the best feedback in order to go into full production for Christmas 2000. The monkeys bombed (go figure) but the logo was very well received – “if you change the colours”. So our first full run were 100 black and red Clown logo boards. The Monkeys never got to see a full run and the blue and black logo board was put away."
