Banksy Prices Up or Down?, by Daniel Silk on Mar 30, 2011 14:03:17 GMT 1,
I dunno depends what direction he really wants to move in, I mean if its about letting people have his work at low prices then they would still be at Β£75 and maybe be editions of thousands. But if its about raising the value of his work then it would be small editions for higher prices and to me that looks like the direction he's moving.
Anyone see it differently?

Id pay it. If other artists with far less status can charge close to 1k, im sure Banksy can

Banksy Prices Up or Down?, by sixftjellybaby on Mar 30, 2011 14:26:08 GMT 1, I guess that it would put it out of the reach of any normal punter. Not many people have a grand to spend on a print. Whether it's a Banksy or not. I don't think that this is a direction Banksy would go in given the choice. Do you think he should? Retro Yeah, I dunno really Lets say he put them up to Β£950, how do you think that would effect things? would it be a good move? It wouldn't stop flippers, it would still have a Β£2k profit in it

Banksy Prices Up or Down?, by balibob on Mar 30, 2011 14:47:12 GMT 1, While he remains popular his prices will at least hold but more certainly rise, Good news for the peeps that own the older work. But if he does the 10 different colourways again?, its putting up the value of the new prints at the entry into the secondary market. Donuts came into the secondary market at around Β£1600-1800, CYW started at Β£3k plus.
Demand will drive his prices up and the frenzy will start again when the new release is imminent.
What i think i am trying to say is that in the past if you missed out on the lottery/queing, you could pick one up on the secondary market without having to sell your children to finance it. I think that may be a thing of the past.

Banksy Prices Up or Down?, by Baby Dave on Mar 30, 2011 15:07:00 GMT 1, I'd love to know when the next release is going to be. I can see the initial sale price of new prints being a touch more expensive. No doubt this will triple the price of prints on the secondary market. Hopefully im totally wrong!!!

I think that it would be a good thing if he sold them at flipper prices and then give the difference to charity, at least then the right sort of people and organizations would profit from his work and most of the prints would still end up in the hands of the people who usually get them (the better off who appreciate it). Of course there will be a few of us poor folk who miss out on the chance of getting a cheap Banksy to admire, but then thousands who can't afford flipper prices miss out every year by being either not 'lucky enough'? to live in London or successful in the Lottery.

Banksy Prices Up or Down?, by jdwheeler on May 10, 2011 13:39:01 GMT 1, One thing I find interesting is that Banksy's rise in popularity (read: secondary print prices) has matched the growing availability (and subsequent reduction) in the availability of cheap credit.
I wonder:
A). How many Banksy purchases are made on credit cards or with loans? B). Will the market get flooded when interest rates rise and continued inflation starts squeezing people's disposable income?
Just my observation, but it seems a lot of collections (not just Banksy) are now being dumped on the sales section/EBay (granted at lot are at speculative prices and just sticking).
Just another aspect to consider.

I buy mine because it keeps me away from coke and hookers, therefore allowing me to comply to the sanctity of marriage
Buying them has saved me from myself, overpriced? No way.
Thankyou Banksy and secondary market seller type people (you know who you are)

I buy mine so that when I decide to sell, I've got plenty of money for coke and hookers, therefore allowing me to get right off my tits!!

Banksy Prices Up or Down?, by Existencil on May 10, 2011 18:19:23 GMT 1, I'm fairly confident that at least two artists mentioned here will be hanging in major contemporary art shows in the next 30 years. Banksy and Adam Neate. The former will be there because of his standing in the urban movement and the latter due to pure skill. I truly believe Neate will end up next to Bacon and Picasso.
I might be wrong.

I remember quotes like this back in 2007 caused many unclued people to buy pieces left on the street by Neate after working on them for 7 seconds for up to five figures. I guess some people still can't let go.
Good call.

its not mine but if it finishes around there for a signed single edition of 500 I would say that Banksy is both affordable and not overpriced as a genre leading artist.
