Banksy Heavy Weaponry, Real or Fake?, by isg on Oct 29, 2020 12:56:47 GMT 1, Correct, must have been more than one in display apart from the window one. Clearly it isn't the same one. I have sent PCO the pictures I sent you, and I believe they would have told me mine was a fake if this was the case. Not everything in a collection has to be worth $$$$, and this wont be worth much BUT is some cool Banksy history from an installation of a 2002 exhibition. And i actually like the piece. Hello, I seen another one of these in an auction about a year ago. I tried all last night to find it, but it could have been taken out after it was sold. To be honest if I were you, I would take it back from your framer and put a claim in for a refund. Maybe Daniel it's best not to post these ebay links with fake art, all it's doing is giving the scammers free advertising Found it, page 20 of the eBay thread - have a look at page 19 also.
Page 19 on eBay thread:
What are people’s thoughts on these, stop and search looked like a different size? Looks like the seller has also has sold 4 ‘original’ street pieces recently...
What are people’s thoughts on these, stop and search looked like a different size? Looks like the seller has also has sold 4 ‘original’ street pieces recently... Wouldn’t touch them, they are at best back door prints worth £1-2k or more likely just fakes. You’d be throwing money down the drain and may as well buy a WCP if you can’t afford a authenticated print
Oh yeah totally agreed, not going near them, always just curious about the random bits that come up. . Not back doors! Just fakes .

Banksy Heavy Weaponry, Real or Fake?, by Rubberneck on Oct 29, 2020 13:13:32 GMT 1, So can I just ask does the pco email refer to the two photographs we’re discussing on this thread? Or is there another piece not shown here?
If it is referring to the two pictures then the communication is quite clear.
The first piece, the photo from Japan is a prop and not intended as a piece of art. The Second piece submitted was not created by Banksy.
Am I reading this wrong?

7 for 7 on the fakes so far...

Banksy Heavy Weaponry, Real or Fake?, by gimmeabreak on Oct 29, 2020 13:39:04 GMT 1, It's probably the last (only) original i will ever be able to afford. This will be framed and hung in my living room, and will be my pride, and never to be sold. Just i thought I'd give you guys an update to the end of this little mistery: it WASNT the window display BUT there was more than one. And its real. and its mineCheers my friends and have a great evening The proud owner

For the sake of politeness, let's take the piece you have purchased out of the equation, any opinion on the other 6 pieces shown?
Also, if someone's business is selling "banksy_originals" - wouldn't that be a business account on ebay?
Look at the items in their Feedback Left for others:
banksy 'motherhood' / 'rat mother' original street piece, metal c.2002/3 unique? (#202948002283) Banksy 'Stop and Search' Print signed not numbered edition - Gift heart - No COA (#202930326851) Banksy 'Jesus with Shopping Bags' / 'Consumer Jesus' Artist Proof print pls read (#202907154893) Banksy Original Battling CCTV camera 'Scorpions' stencil from Santas Ghetto 2002 (#202710182217) Banksy Stamped Currency x2 - Dismaland £10 and Walled Off Hotel £5 (#202634298960)
Banksy vs Zeus 'Streetopoly' Chancer Card MOCO Museum 2017 Banksy vs London (#202634298959) Banksy Original Gangsta Rat on concrete circa. 2014 from Weston-Super-Mare, UK (#202634298962) Banksy Original signature on concrete circa. 2004 from Tollgate House, Bristol (#202587743472) Banksy Original 'Anti Climb' Rat on metal No Entry traffic sign circa. 2008 (#202608175420)

Banksy Heavy Weaponry, Real or Fake?, by saint on Oct 29, 2020 14:59:00 GMT 1, Quick read through this thread, and while I'm not commenting on the piece itself I would say this....
if it were me, and I had bought this, I would want a much less ambiguous answer from PC about the actual piece in question, and not a comment about the piece that was on display, which as has been shown, this is not. I would want this for my own knowledge and to satisfy curiosity.
I would email PC back, and explain exactly what it was sold to you as, that it is not the piece that was on display, but instead was sold as another example from the same period/show, or a test for the final piece that was used in the display.
Once you have explained everything to them they will hopefully either answer saying yes there was a test spray/secondary piece, but they won't authenticate it as it was never intended for sale, or they will say there was no other piece and it is therefore a fake.
Either way you will hopefully have you answer.
Fingers crossed for you, would look good framed up for sure.

Good enough for me, I’ve seen multiple email chains like this from PC. What you have is a nice part of a Banksy installation with a little email from PC saying it’s the real deal. Any pics ? ( not sure if you have already shown)
A lot of jealousy on this forum, its very amusing to watch.
Comments aged like a fine whine. [sic]

Banksy Heavy Weaponry, Real or Fake?, by Nuno on Oct 29, 2020 17:20:08 GMT 1, I do realize the ambiguity of PCO reply makes it a fake - without any clear answer (yes it is real - no its a fake) it is exactly that and only that. On top of which of course all your points make sense, truly, because they are relevant: two different stencils, the cardboard quality, the "pristine" track record of the seller, the ambiguous replies from the fine people of PCO. I am not saying your messages were always delivered with warmth and love but it had the effect needed to make me realize I needed to wake up. I am usually a fairly seasoned collector and really, don't know what happened here. Anyway, I thank you, albeit not all of you, for your explanations. lets consider this matter closed. Best. Vincent
What did you pay if you dont mind me asking? If you do try for a refund I hope it works out for you 👍🏼

Banksy Heavy Weaponry, Real or Fake?, by Terry Fuckwitt on Oct 29, 2020 17:27:00 GMT 1, What is your reason for not naming the forum member? Surely with the help you have received from forum members here, don't you think that is the least you could do, to prevent future members getting scammed?

Oh, and use a more friendly tone.

Banksy Heavy Weaponry, Real or Fake?, by LonelyFarmer on Oct 29, 2020 21:28:24 GMT 1, I'm starting to feel sorry for Banksy right now. Every morning he must wake to shit loads of emails asking him to confirm the authenticity of 'free art from dismaland'. I don't want his job anymore, he can keep it😉 I imagine Banksy sit in front of their computer in high-heels hairy legs, hoodie, nice cup of tea, and yeah I’ll take their job, mostly for the heels. Got that right baby👍🏻. #savetheelephants

Banksy Heavy Weaponry, Real or Fake?, by Terry Fuckwitt on Oct 29, 2020 22:04:35 GMT 1, Makes sense, but I don't really like public lynching. And I don't really like your tone neither to be honest. I have told a few people whom I trust and whom have been on this forum long enough to earn my respect. They will act accordingly in case this happens again, and in any case I am sure people wont be as stupid as I am / was not to check before they buy. Good evening guys What is your reason for not naming the forum member? Surely with the help you have received from forum members here, don't you think that is the least you could do, to prevent future members getting scammed?
Your post makes no sense. I'm not sure what's wrong with my tone. I said to name the forum member and you ignored my post, so I asked again. I also posted along with a lot of helpful members about the different reasons why your piece was a fake. You chose to ignore the majority of those posts as your head was somewhere else. You then came back with not even a half arsed attempt to thank the members for helping you. I don't know why I'm even bothering wasting my time replying to you now. Go and enjoy your piece of cardboard, I look forward to seeing it framed up🙂

Surely with the help you have received from forum members here, don't you think that is the least you could do, to prevent future members getting scammed? I think the guys head is melted over all this. He knows buying this was a mistake. We don't know what he paid for it, so maybe he wants to keep all information about the seller to himself until he gets a refund.
Terry your one of the good guys on here and I know you'll give the guy a bit of space to think things over.
Let him sleep on it and I'm sure in time everyone will know who the seller is.
Man I've been there myself and I'm sure a few others on here have too.
Lets wish the guy luck, he done nothing wrong only fill some scammers pockets .....

Banksy Heavy Weaponry, Real or Fake?, by Terry Fuckwitt on Oct 29, 2020 23:46:11 GMT 1, Hi, Apologies Terry And apologies if you feel am a moron because am not, or at least I don't like to think so. A few people here will tell you am one of the good guys too. I paid 3000 Euros Here is the seller urbanartassociation.com/thread/165900/banksy-glory-original-alt-versionThe thread says it all, and this Glory piece is the piece PCO it stating as fake. And this thread makes me an even crazier fool. Good evening gents And yes am pissed, so I lost it a bit. In terms of refund, forget it. The sale was at 5,000 and when i read this Glory thread i lost it and told him he was a scammer, but I had already paid 3,000 and asked for a refund. We agreed that i would keep the piece and leave it at 3,000. Believe it or not, when the seller sent me the email from PCO (posted above) a few weeks later, he asked me to send the balance - which i did not. But i did consider it. Whatever
No need to apologise, you've obviously had a shit time dealing with this, which was more the reason for you to name the scumbag. Most here were just trying to help you out, not ridicule you, although it probably felt like that at the time. That's a lot of money to hand over, so good luck with whatever you decide to do going forward.

Whatever Thank you for posting the details. You are really helping the forum. And for the record, I don't think you are a Moron, I think you just crossed roads with a very skilled scam artist at a point where the Banksy market is in a particular state of euphoria. There are a few hype artists on the board that are contributing to this, and they need to give it a rest.
Looking at the "Glory" thread, it's a good reminder that the fakes are getting better, as should be expected given the amount of money to be made.
