I know you commented this before but I don’t really understand what you mean. It’s probably me just being slow here but could you explain what you mean please? It looks fine to me so I’m not sure what I’m missing.

I think expresspost is correct, the direction of the sun/light and the fact that it's higher than the helicopter would mean the blades should be inverted.

A not great example

Check out this shadow. When the light comes from behind the viewer. The blades are at the top, and the landing gear at the bottom.

But if the light were to come from the other direction, turn the image upside down and you'll see the shadow as if the light were casting the shadow towards you. Blades now at bottom and landing gear at top. Doesn't mater that the direction has now changed, as long as the copter remains upright.

The murmure shadow is subtle, and they will get away with it. But once you see the mistake, you can't unsee it.

Thanks to you both for your replies. I tried to find an image to show what I thought you were meaning before querying but couldn’t find a good example to help me. However, with you examples and explanations, I now understand exactly what you mean and thank you for your clarification. Now that I understand it and have seen it, I can’t unsee it. That’s a great spot by you expresspost.

I'm no expert but is the issue even more fundamental than that?

The light source illuminating the "waves" doesn't appear to be coming from behind the viewer as the shadows are on the near side. Yet the helicopter is lit up on its left side (from above).

(They do look nice though).

Congratulations to all who scored, a lovely print, one that after a lot of thought I couldn't buy...more to do with £££ and some expensive repairs needed doing to the house and of course funding a project of my own, which I'll be giving details about soon along with a forum competition .

As a friend told me "You can't buy everything".

But enjoy it guys! Pleased to see they had a successful run.
