Which Hirst NHS print will you get?, by craigthemole on May 20, 2020 8:56:30 GMT 1, I'm on the fence whether to get the small or large Hirst rainbow print.
On one hand it's an opportunity to own a, relatively cheap, large Hirst print, which I bet looks great irl. On the other, I don't have loads of wall space (or it at least limits my placement options) and I can still get a Hirst, my first one, and save some money by going for the small print (1k to charity is great but would be pushing my limits slightly in these times).
With this in mind, I wanted to see what the general consensus was.

Which Hirst NHS print will you get?, by H.R. on May 20, 2020 9:03:12 GMT 1, Kind of a no brainer to pick one of these up. You can dislike it, you can not have wall space, you can have a wife, but you CAN still buy one for the cause.
My take is like the old childhood song about the goose getting fat and pennies. If you have the pennies, you should donate em. If you don’t, then these pennies we are raising are for you. 😉

Definitely agree, if you have the funds, can give to charity (and happen to get a Hirst in return) great! But I'm still interested to know whether people will go for the heart or rainbow, and why. And equally, what people's reasons are for the small or large print. I dont think it's as simple as buying the large print if you have money; some people may prefer a small print (due to wall space) and then donate to other charity causes with any excess money.

Which Hirst NHS print will you get?, by H.R. on May 20, 2020 9:25:13 GMT 1, Lol. I get it but...
How many people do you know on this site that will drop 1K on an open edition, unlimited digitally signed print?
Most folks on here ARE the flippers.

If you bought a couple of these large Hirsts and you ain’t wealthy, then hats off to you. RESPECT.
I love it if that is the case and it does nothing for my country or people’s suffering here. I just love the gesture.

Which Hirst NHS print will you get?, by dantesimone1981 on May 20, 2020 9:42:02 GMT 1, I bought the large rainbow and small heart. Its a lot of money for me (most i had spent before this was a few hundred) but its a reminder of this time and its from an artist that I've always wanted to own and hang on my walls. So its win, win for me.

I love it if that is the case and it does nothing for my country or people’s suffering here. I just love the gesture. Wouldn't call myself wealthy, I would have thought like most people here, we're better off than a lot of people. Buying one of the bigger prints was a big deal for us and a lot of money. Especially as i'm a photographer, who's had nothing coming in since mid March and don't know when I will.
I've always loved Hirst since I first saw his work in the Saatchi Gallery in 1991 and always really wanted something of his for so long, this was that opportunity and it helps out the NHS, so I just couldn't pass it up.
I can also tell you that everything we buy goes on the walls and won't be flipped. We're buying it for the love, to help people out and because it's been on the cards for a while (I've been refreshing Hirsts instagram every 15 minutes for the last few weeks since he first mentioned it).
Oh and the wife and kids also love it and can't wait for it to be on the wall.
Take care out there.

Which Hirst NHS print will you get?, by momo on May 20, 2020 9:56:29 GMT 1, Just realising that even though I'm not British nor live in the UK I've now "donated" more than 1k to the NHS and other associated British charities through artist fund raising. Not all selflessly of course, its art that I wanted and artists I normally would never have had the chance to own a piece by but the charity element helped twist my arm and make the decision to pay up. I wonder how much external money will enter the UK for example that wouldn't have because the artists are fundraising this way.

With this in mind, I wanted to see what the general consensus was. I think 1K for an unsigned print of unknown edition size is quite pricey. You can pick up a proper signed print of an edition size of 100 for about 3 or 4K which represents much better value, in my opinion. But, then again, as they are quite pricey perhaps they wont sell very many and therefore the print run will be low - making it better value. It's a tricky one.

If you don't like it etc and you still want to give money you're better off giving the money straight to the charities as they'd get it all rather than just the profits.

Don’t worry - voting is optional. If you feel the need to express your disdain for the release, you can do so with a pithy comment.
Oh wait, you already have.

Why does everything need to lead to confrontation.
I am simply curious as to whether more people are buying than not.
I have nothing against the images or the principle. They are just not to my taste.
The longer I remain on this forum the longer I question whether or not it is worthwhile. People always seem to be looking for a fight.

I wasn’t sure that was the reason for the thread. The question is ‘Which will you be choosing?’
I therefore think there should be an option for ‘I choose none’.

I take your point on board and apologies for not being inclusive of those who don't want to purchase. I suppose this poll was initially created to help me, and any others, who are on the fence about what print option to choose. Someone telling me they dont like any of them doesn't really help in that decision making.

Which Hirst NHS print will you get?, by josephwillis123 on May 20, 2020 13:42:15 GMT 1, For conversation purposes i'll give my take. I ordered the large heart, which was a large purchase for me. I am a fan of his work and I have always loved seeing his work in museums across the world. My thoughts which told me to make the purchase: I like the image, it uses a classic Hirst motif/style with the butterfly wings, its a good size, and its probably a rare opportunity (for me) to own an editioned piece by him. It would have been a huge bonus if it was hand singed, but it is what it is. All that, and some of my money is going to a good cause.

Do you know if it comes signed or with a special box?
In the photographs you do not see any signatures and since you buy a Hist it would be nice if it had the signature.
Do you recommend the purchase?

Its not hand signed...its 'digital signed'...so its another way to say its a printed signature...I guess.

The print is unsigned, it’s ”digitally signed”, so a printed signature.
