Paul Insect • Together Alone, by jimmyjam on Jan 26, 2020 21:12:16 GMT 1, Paul deserves the price hike and it’s hand finished. Love this set. I'm a fan.. but just doesn't make sense to me for artists to create prints that are 1/3-1/4 the price of an original That being said, even tho I prefer his work in rectangle form, these are beautiful
It’s a really bad sign when artist are charging so much for a print when their original don’t do so well. I get he’s very popular with urban art collectors but I just don’t see his work being collected outside of this area. He’s been around long enough now where people outside of Urban Art would collect him. Yes I know Damien Hirst bought his entire first show but was a long time ago and I don’t know any other major collector who has his work or cares. Honestly putting pretty model faces over and over just isn’t my thing. He is very talented and I hope to see something new that is a bit more exciting. Again, I know many people disagree with me on this.

Pretty sure his last show sold out. If you’re basing your hypothesis on blue chip collectors then you’re in the wrong place.

And please don't point to banksy as an example, because he's the exception to the rule, and is alsoo well supported by art-collecting elite.

Dear Woofy, please see expressos post below yours. PI isn’t even close to being considered blue chip and no artists on Allouches roster are. If you’re going by price point then there are many mitigating reasons why this release seems expensive but I really can’t be bothered pointing out the obvious. I’ll let you get back to your deeper understanding of “how the art world works” (yet another silly thing you’ve said) and leave the rest of us “non serious” collectors to enjoy Paul’s latest offering.

Paul Insect • Together Alone, by Express Post on Jan 29, 2020 9:31:27 GMT 1, There is a misunderstanding here.
Currently PI's market exists in the urban art realm.
What Woof is saying is that PI has ambition to join the ranks of a blue chip calibre, which is why he is commenting that the rules of blue chip will have to apply.
If PI chooses to stay in his lane, then blue chip rules will not apply.
Peace and love everybody.

Paul Insect • Together Alone, by avec art on Jan 29, 2020 10:18:14 GMT 1, has PI said in not as many words those are his intentions. Or is that being inferred from the steep trajectory of his recent pricing?
I'm not trying to contradict or challenge, just wondered what makes someone think that these are his ambitions. My feeling was that he's finding a style that is distinctly his and that he's just running with it and refining it.

Paul Insect • Together Alone, by purpleandred on Jan 29, 2020 10:34:20 GMT 1, Aren't many of these so called street artists trying to exist within the bluechip world? So surely by that logic we should be judging all of them by that set of rules too? Yes - these prints are expensive and I will be surprised if the edition of 20 actually sells out at all but the edition of 70 is little more expensive than pejacs ying yang for example (which i thought was aweful and it went within seconds).
Corriander studios is ta op end print house (not cheap) Avant arte releases are always expensive so you're paying a premium for this (Not cheap) All of these prints have hand embellished collage etc which took over two weeks of Pauls time (Not cheap)
Factor all of this in and yes the price is going to be higher than the last releases. I recall reading that all of Pauls canvases sold at his last show in Paris and even though none of these apparently went to well known blue chip collectors / collections why should his next print release not reflect his markets demand?
I do understand JimmyJams view but I also point out that this is Pauls signature style and the old argument of "he isn't progressing" is a moot point because Kaws has been churching out XX toys and paintings with this derivative for how many years now? yet people on this site just can't get enough of it and have little issue with it. The same for Invader - how much has he progressed?! lol!! (both bluechip artists)
I genuinely feel this is Pauls strongest print to date and easily his best image. This will look stunnunbg in any home especially in a modern contemporary living room (see what I'm doing here . It's a unique and fresh approcah to portraiture. Some really disparaging and snobby remarks on here from a number of members.. give the artist a break ffs!

Paul Insect • Together Alone, by Happy Shopper on Jan 29, 2020 10:35:14 GMT 1, My impression is that Paul, Bast and Faile left galleries like POW and Lazarides and joined Allouche to become more “blue chip”. Unfortunately I don’t think that’s worked so far for any of them, but Paul does well on his own merit, despite Allouche not because of them. They could all do with better representation, IMO, despite liking the art Allouche puts out!

Everyone on here has an opinion, especially when they don't necessarily see eye to eye on different things, myself included. I still recommend PFG if you can get these over to him. Great at flattening them, and has had them since they were released and is great at confirming if they're authentic. Ok then..
