Banksy Cushions Gross Domestic Product™, by als33 on Nov 21, 2023 17:13:17 GMT 1, I don't know anything about anything, so take this as the wild guess that it is - I think had GDP's primary purpose (to allow Banksy to claim copyright) not been struck down, the idea was that the non-signed/numbered things (cushions, sprayed T-shirts, mugs, etc.) would have been produced and sold in periodic runs that were small but not limited (in that they would keep doing as many periodic runs as they wanted). In that way they would have been in a different class than the editioned things that generally get PC certs.
The irony is that because the copyright gambit didn't work and GDP ended up being a 1-and-done, there are 600 Banksquiats out there and probably way less cushions, t-shirts, etc. It's interesting - the way the whole thing went down you have this new category of works that seem to be quite rare, ostensibly valuable and completely unsellable.

Banksy Cushions Gross Domestic Product™, by Happy Shopper on Nov 21, 2023 18:01:34 GMT 1, its pretty mad really, by that I mean it makes no sense that they offered anything primary and refused a PC what was the methodology? 1. They’re meant to be “products” not art editions. 2. Too easily replicated to be able to associate a COA to a particular cushion.

Banksy Cushions Gross Domestic Product™, by STP on Nov 21, 2023 18:50:24 GMT 1, Hardly a bargain if they're as fake as the Paris Hilton CD in the same auction. How do you know the CD is fake? Because I assisted in placing the genuine ones in record stores.

They’re meant to be “products” not art editions. 2. Too easily replicated to be able to associate a COA to a particular cushion. I respectfully disagree with this. If they were "products", then why was everything incredibly limited and sold on an application basis? These were absolutely art editions, the items available at the Cut and Run gift store were products. Merch. Very different.
Surely the way to weed out fakes is by issuing COAs to genuine items.
Also, pretty much ALL of Banksy's output on paper would be incredibly easy to replicate. WCP seems to do well. I've not seen any WCP cushions yet or a WCP Baby Mobile.
I think the confusion around these items has led to mediocre auction results. Every item sold at GDP was worthy of some sort of COA. Perhaps the admin was more than PC could be bothered with.

you can try to provide elements that allow you to distinguish the true from the false because this answer, apart from putting yourself forward, contributes nothing to the question you are asked.

You can disagree, but it’s what Banksy said they were. Unknown numbers, not editions, and more can be made any time.
COAs can only be given to identifiable originals or numbered editions. Banksy screen prints are not easily faked, due to the fine detail which is near impossible to replicate, and WCP versions are easily spotted.

I know the Terms and Conditions stated that more of an item could be added at anytime but we’re four years down the line. Nothing more is coming.
Where did he call them “products”?
