Indeed. The GDP mat looks like it was machine stitched to a specific font/pattern. Whereas the Love Welcomes mats look like they have the stories of those who made them, stitched into each individual piece.

I own a love welcomes mat its a worthy £500 charity piece and glad I could help also bought more table mats. Runners and pillows than I need but all the hype was making me ill

This is an interesting listing, not just because it’s from Martin Bull, a “Banksy expert”, but also it doesn’t appear to have the “tail” (extended strip of life jacket) on the “E” at the end of “Welcome” like all the other Mats I’ve seen:

Ha! Something was off with that listing. The lack of “tail” on the “e” would put me off bidding too. That’s a key component of the mats as per the GDP window original

Not really a joke, a necessity for Banksy to fight back a few companies who  copyrighted merchandising using Banksy's image.  Judge's verdict was clear,  a stupid verdict but it is the reality; the only protection for artist is to sell  merchandising.   Banksy tried that but still he lost the case, mainly on the ground that Bansky always claimed that he didn't care about copryight and people are free to do whatever they want with his image (as long as not sold as Banksy original)...   so yeah, for sure the judge thought exactly the same, big narrative fail indeed.
