Banksy Welcome Mat, by carly on Oct 25, 2020 21:17:22 GMT 1, The mat releases still sell out practically instantly. I would imagine they’ll keep making them as long as that continues, which could be a long time yet. I guess they’ll know it’s time to stop when a release takes weeks to sell. Absolutely no reason to stop at the moment. As long as they sell over primary, people will want them. I think they could do another 10,000 and be ok. Keeps the ladies employed for a few more years I cannot see a reason they would stop production, just keep doing what they do whilst producing the other ranges. Would be very disheartening for all concerned and zero gain to be had by asking them to stop it's a good reminder of how other people are living in these times
I don’t think these ladies are getting salary’s that add up to £1000,000. Don’t forget this is a business not a registered charity I’m sure Abi will be paying herself much more than any refugee will ever see

Indeed
However they are creating awareness, giving people jobs
They are doing more than I am by improving these peoples lives.
I don't have an issue with people making money from it, most charities/social enterprises do this
What would you do differently?

I’d show more transparency how much these woman are paid would be nice. For all we know they are on below minimum wage? If this is the case you could say people are getting rich off the back of a vulnerable persons labour, in effect exploiting them? Also I think the way they market themselves as if they are a charity is misleading. Just as an example if you knew Abi was on 125k a year and each lady was getting paid £2 an hour would you still see the project in the same light?

Fair points,
Maybe email and ask?
I am only guessing here, but i would imagine that before Banksy committed to this, he would have satisfied himself that all was fair?

I would imagine he did do a level of vetting. I’m not saying anything I have said is correct but a little transparency would be nice. I think it would also help people feel more comfortable about donating. I for one like to know where my money is going when I give to charity I don’t like to feel I’m paying off someone’s mortgage.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by lucko0r on Oct 26, 2020 17:11:49 GMT 1, Hello guys,
I'm owner of a Banksy Love Welcome Mat and thinking about swapping it for a different Banksy or Dolk (only his new Artworks). Happy to keep it, but interested to hear what's out there. It's from the 3rd release.
Also I have an offer for Save and Delete Sticker Set and a Kate Moss card. Anything I need to know of when buying these to make sure they are legit? You guys have always been really helpful - so thank you in advance! Best,
Paul

The short answer is no.
Maybe some people will put slight premium on the 1st batch, it being linked to GDP thing and all that, with the slightly different tag.
But the number would not make a difference
(And I also have one in the two digits so not trying to talk down prices)

Banksy Welcome Mat, by cnrdvln on Oct 28, 2020 13:47:26 GMT 1, some think that the first GDP release will get COA eventually as they are so distinctive in the tag. they think its been done on purpose to separate the two types of release
not sure what info backs this, there was a massive thread about the new PC website I didn't read, might be to do with that?

thanks for reading the threads, share the quote if you have it, might even out the cost difference for people and stop them spending crazy amounts for the first run

Huh, I hadn't heard this but as someone with a mat from the first batch this would be a welcome development.
That being said, it's fun to think about, but at the same time complete and total speculation which doesn't seem likely. Possible but not likely. Hypothetically, it's interesting to think about what a COA would do to the value and collectability of the mats...they're arguably the most impactful piece from GDP, and the only reason they're not valued like others is the lack of COA, signature (this is huge) and potentially unlimited edition.

same, but FR has confirmed its not the case, hoping he can quote the confirmation.
why pay 1800 when you can get it for half on ebay? am I missing something obvious about the tags and PC?

So the first batch should be LESS valuable...? They have the lovely tag hidden away!
