Banksy • Forgive Us Our Trespassing , by Gunny on Nov 27, 2020 10:16:21 GMT 1, I have one which came in exactly the same envelope (incl flyers) as shown above and another one in a different Don´t Panic envelope (without flyers) - the posters feel, smell and look 100% the same. There was different designed brown envelopes for these

There is one from BASM that was sold like 2 years ago and looks good (the colors) . Maybe they deleted them?

I’m not sure what you are asking, so some questions for you to consider.
- All legit Banksy posters a several hundred/thousand £££’s now. Why is this £50? - what are the chances of the seller having multiple copies of something made 20 years ago? - does the condition match something that was a cheap promo made 20years ago that had no or very little value?
Unless someone can prove otherwise. This is a reprint that looks nice in a frame and on the wall but is in no way authentic.
Does that help?

Banksy • Forgive Us Our Trespassing , by jjoockee on Nov 27, 2020 11:02:24 GMT 1, Does it look like a Banksy? Well it could still be fake. Does it smell lika Banksy? Then you know you found real one. How do you think Pest Control authenticate? Some collectors buy art with their ears so why not their nose
So if you want to get a job at pest control make sure to practice your smelling skills.

Banksy • Forgive Us Our Trespassing , by andypandy on Nov 29, 2020 12:26:36 GMT 1, I have a few of these posters
The first one I got back in 2010 from ETTGS screener (I believe that these did not come in a pack but were simply on their own) but being over 10 years I cannot be 100% certain
The others I purchased from forum members earlier this year - I wanted to have both images framed for my son and used this as an opportunity to try some pressing/restoring/flattening and framing during lockdown boredom...
They are essentially an offset lithograph which seems to be on recycled stock...when you look at the image under a loupe/magnifier you will see the hexagonal shape present within a lithograph print
If the hexagonal shape is not present then this would suggest its not authentic....
Some of these posters are really great because Banksy made some great images that were never published as prints so having a poster version of the work is a great alternative

I think he refers to the coversation above regarding the bouquet of the print. The famous Banksy aroma.

Banksy • Forgive Us Our Trespassing , by Treclau on Nov 29, 2020 22:24:43 GMT 1, Thanks to those who have posted examples of envelopes! I had intended to do so myself when I created this thread but a busy weekend got in the way...
Some of these will be repeats of those already shared, but find below some envelopes that have recently appeared alongside posters listed for sale on eBay – the first design of which features on the packs I obtained from-source back in 2010, so that’s one we can be sure about. I can barely remember what I was doing 10 days ago, let alone 10 years, so if anyone can recall the finer details of this release, that would be great. I remember the packs only being available for a month, but I’m unsure as to whether DP continually printed packs for the duration, or simply drip-fed their stockists from a single limited run? Of course, it was limited either way...
Just a quick warning to members – on a few occasions, I’ve seen the odd poster listed for sale on eBay accompanied by a DP envelope from an entirely different edition (including one particularly audacious seller attempting to pass off as legit an envelope very clearly emblazoned with “2014” on its reverse). In all cases the posters may very well have been authentic yet separated from their original envelopes for whatever reason – but the blatant dishonesty would personally lead me to steer clear.
With the hope of making this thread as comprehensive as possible, it’s probably worth allowing the topic of forgeries to rear it’s ugly head. Aside from the more obvious single-sided, fold-devoid copies currently being flogged on eBay for £25 a piece, has anyone come across any scarily accurate fakes on the market? And if so, are there any specific flaws to look out for?

Banksy • Forgive Us Our Trespassing , by panicbristol on Nov 30, 2020 11:56:36 GMT 1, Hi Guys
I might be able to help with some info about the Trespass poster.
I work for the company that worked closely with Don't Panic when this particular poster was produced then took over the Bristol franchise for a few years too.
I can't remember the total run of the poster that we printed or of the exact envelope that went with it but we often just used up whatever stock of envelopes we had left over from previous campaigns to make up the numbers so having a particular envelope with the poster doesn't necessarily give it authenticity. The number of packs we put together was dictated by the number of flyers that we had sold to go into the packs as well as the number of posters that had been agreed upon with the client. We only ever printed one run of the posters, some were kept flat but the vast majority were folded and put in packs. At the time we had no idea that they would become so valuable but we had a agreement with the guy that supplied us with the artwork that we wouldn't produce any more of them so we never did.
We had a quantity of the folded posters leftover, not sure exactly how many, but we used to send them out to potential clients as samples so it is possible for someone to get hold of one that wasn't distributed in a pack.
I have one undfolded Esso poster and one unfolded Trespass poster that was used in an exhibition of Don't Panic posters in Bristol around 8 years ago and has been hanging on our office wall ever since.
Not in perfect condition because whoever put it in the £5 Ikea frame used masking tape on the corners to keep it in position.
Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try my best to answer them.

The kind of detail I was hoping for, thanks for sharing. Interesting to hear that leftover envelopes from previous releases would at times be used to package future editions – I guess that may explain some of the anomaly designs that appear for sale every so often 👍🏻

Any idea if any "forgive us" posters were signed as gift prints ?
Hi Guys I might be able to help with some info about the Trespass poster. Banksy • Forgive Us Our Trespassing , by mj on Dec 2, 2020 21:40:58 GMT 1, I get the thing about the envelope but at the same time I dont, I got still 3 of the posters I got from the " the hunt around east London" but did not kept no envelopes as they stinked heavy industrial ink. And this does not make them fake, fakers can easly fake the envelopes if they can fake prints/posters etc.

Nobody said that posters lacking their original envelopes should be deemed fake — I’m just taking the perspective of a collector buying in 2020 who maybe missed the opportunity to obtain from source back in 2010, but wants to ensure that they’re pursuing the real deal, hence this thread. Personally I’d be more inclined to buy one that comes with the original envelope as any awkward-to-replicate elements such as that are to the buyer’s advantage – not impossible to forge, but not straightforward either. As far as I’m aware it hasn’t been done yet, so a decent indication of a genuine piece.
