Banksy • Forgive Us Our Trespassing , by dogzero on Mar 27, 2010 20:08:48 GMT 1, Just curious - why would that unfolded one be single-sided only? I assumed that the unfolded ones were exactly the same as the folded ones, only they, er, weren't folded.

Banksy • Forgive Us Our Trespassing , by dingo5 on Mar 28, 2010 0:02:31 GMT 1, The hype is getting ridiculous, look at the bay, I think folks need to pause, take a deep breath and breathe out slowly.
These things are FREE, all people need to do is ask friendly forums like this for a spare going. There are very generous folks who go beyond the call of duty to get these for people without. ( thanks to a certain member ). 45 squid for a folded, unbelievable! At the end of the day as Freerange says, They are a piece of P*ss to copy. Maybe they deserve to be ripped off. Peace!

Banksy • Forgive Us Our Trespassing , by grantb on Mar 28, 2010 0:15:48 GMT 1, yea but if i wanted to frame this image then i would only do it with a official poster and not one that i have printed out. as it would just make me know i have a official poster.
if your not bothered thats kool, then you could have any banksy on your wall.
as for the £45 ones on ebay..they havnt sold for that price so no ones getting ripped off, theres ones on there for a much lower price.
and not everyone knows about this forum!
just because you can print more does'nt make a proper one worthless.
yes its only a poster and that auction was probably shilled with a unlucky buyer paying a high price but he was prepared to pay that so why should he be a idiot? i think he knew what he was buying. if a fake then i feel for him.
this isn't meant to sound argumentative,

Banksy • Forgive Us Our Trespassing , by dingo5 on Mar 28, 2010 0:58:35 GMT 1, True words. My two folded ones (Free) are framed after the warm Iron through paper treatment and at close inspection the creases are barely visible. They are ok for a novelty banksy for the wall but there are Thousands out there. Just don't like to see people blatantly ripped off.

Banksy • Forgive Us Our Trespassing , by stanley on Mar 28, 2010 11:06:34 GMT 1, René Gagnon's response is awesome. I never saw such an art piece showing the guy pissed off but keeping his sense of humour. There is a must have there for collectors : Banksy's and the two Rene in order to make a great tryptic !
Edition of 50. Surprised these havent gone yet!

Banksy • Forgive Us Our Trespassing , by Cedric Mnich on Mar 28, 2010 12:04:10 GMT 1, Well Stanley, it's the proof people prefer to buy the Banksy name rather than the original artist... I bet if Banksy would do a piece entitled "I can't believe you morons actually buy this shit", as long as it would be signed, people would pay thousands of pounds for it. What ? What you sayin' ? he already did ?

Banksy • Forgive Us Our Trespassing , by grantb on Mar 28, 2010 12:35:54 GMT 1,
Well I think most people prefer the revisited version, ii deff rather go for that one, it has better composition and got the funny story behind it.
well yer people often give for the name, but thats like most things not just art...but this poster is a good image and not shit?
just to add I really do like most banksy prints & images. Really into his style not just saying that because his 'banksy' there are banksy prints that I dont want to own. But im willing to pay the money for a image i like and i think forgive us poster is a great image, im sure thats why there more then one person willing to pay the money. plus if somethings hard to get...
I think your missing a point here...didnt rene do a different version of banksys tesco tomato soup to campbells graffiti soup? i know its not exactly the same but you know....artists always re use images. yes bit unlucky that banksy has done it and of course gets the massive following. Maybe banksy has his reason for doing it.....but we wont know.

Banksy • Forgive Us Our Trespassing , by boaty on Mar 28, 2010 12:53:29 GMT 1, when someone like Banksy blatantly reuses an image - it is quite possible he is paying homage to the originator - sort of quoting them - basically saying 'it has already been said in the best way' - I would be flattered.....though may be a little peeved or jealous the image didn't garner the same attention originally.....but, such is life

Well, Rene Gagnon certainly did not make a different version of Banksy's tesco soup with Campbell's graffiti soup. Many artists just do their tribute to Warhol Campbell's soup. Banksy was not the first and will certainly not be the last... Beejoir made a Texaco soup, I did a Greed's soup, Mr Brainwash did one as well I think... But I think it's a bit different here because it's using a common mass consumption object. Here, Banksy directly "borrowed" Rene's work. Why ? a tribute ? a provocation? Have no idea.
Now, people are given the choice between Banksy's boy or Rene's, I still think people will choose Banksy's just because it's Banksy. IMHO, the best piece in the story is Rene's pissed kid with the stone thrower :-) Far superior to the two other pieces. And from a collector's point of view, the Three pieces altogether would be awesome !

Banksy • Forgive Us Our Trespassing , by boaty on Mar 28, 2010 13:16:00 GMT 1, I refuse to believe Banksy, given his level, would be such an idiot to just reuse a recognizeable image like that one without safeguards.....At the end of the day this could all be tomfoolery - monkey business - all nicely coordinated and agreed upon - shucks maybe banksy is rene, who knows ;D

shooting in the dark here but maybe he used that image because it was on the first few pages of google images and looked suitable for his purposes, unaware it had already been used by rene gagnon??
much more plausible that theres a massive conspiracy though

Banksy • Forgive Us Our Trespassing , by boaty on Mar 28, 2010 14:28:27 GMT 1,
could possibly buy in to it being an "unlucky coincidence" when he put it up at the Sundance festival - but then to release it a couple of months later in poster form after all the dust kicked up about it being a rip off of Gagnon's image - not so sure....
as I will never know the truth - the various conspiracy theories are tasting better at this point.....
