Whilst on an Avant Arte mention.... has anyone in here purchased a Conrad Jon Godly print.... similar textual style to the Kagan release.... have had an eye on the available print for a while

Honestly, no idea. I was surprised to see that auction go that high a few months ago. Thought I'd put this one out and there and see what happens, as I know this group will keep me honest. The vibe on the "For Sale" board on this forum is about 50% on sale & 50% price check

What did this go for at source? GLWTS OP. I like Kagan's work. Just don't see much of it anywhere on the secondary market.

I'm curious myself. I can't tell if his secondary market is slow because no one wants to sell, no one wants to buy, he does minimal print releases? Open to thoughts on his market and pricing.

id probably pay 1k ish for it personally because i love the image, but again no idea of the real market value

The quality of the print work on these is exceptional- here is mine framed

He has been picked up by OTI and has a couple of shows on the horizon.

His originals are rising to $20k upwards and from my understanding sell through pretty quickly.. and, really hard to come by.. so i guess anyone liking his work may be willing to purchase a print as a way to have something on the wall by him.. 

For ref, i do have the print and its really high quality - but thats just as much to do with Avante Arte as well.. 

This isn't a hype attempt.. ive been trying to get on the originals list for some time with no joy.. hence buying the print.. and so doing exactly what ive said other people may be doing..

One auction sale obviously doesn't make a market.. but gallery support and restricted supply i guess is helping

Thanks for chiming in. I've seen the same market dynamics you have pointed out and think he will continue to rise in popularity and price if his 2020 shows go well.

I was at his show at Joshua Liner a few years back and the last I looked they still have 3 of his paintings so you may want to give that a try. Love his work and super nice guy as we emailed a few times. First saw his work when he did an album cover for White Lies. Best of luck.

I have one of these and absolutely love it. As per usual with Avant the quality is excellent.

For the others commenting on the Heritage auction result one of these also sold at Tate Ward for ~USD 2250 inc buyers premium, for your guide. Not looking to let go of mine, but will be watching this thread with interest.

That's the highest sale I've seen yet for this specific print.
According to Google...
529,000 Yen = 4,887 USD

Wonder if I should hold onto this for another year or two?

I've only seen 4-5 re-sales in the last 12 months (this print released in December 2018) and I'm thinking there may be fewer and fewer as time goes on and people hold onto these instead of putting up for sale. Of course you can't guess the market of an artist but MK seems to be continually gaining momentum.

I have one of these and the quality of the print is amazing. Kagan's style of heavy brushstrokes was captured in the print far better than I could have imagined.

Pretty sure that one of these sold for about $3K on Paddle8 recently as well.

I don't know what his prices are this year, but last year a painting was less than $3k. They had some paintings at the journal gallery and those unsold ones went to Masahiro Maki Gallery in Japan this year. He also had some John McEnroe paintings at The Journal this year. Email the galleries and get an original instead of a copy that everyone else has. I think even Unit London was selling some too. btw good luck with the sale.

I know Masahiro Maki Gallery is all sold out.  Will try the other galleries you mentioned.
