BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by vvk on Jun 2, 2020 20:37:27 GMT 1, "Not sure where all the misinformation comes from but I can confirm that my order number and the item number on the tag are not the same. Not that it’s relevant other than to illustrate that there’s plenty of misinformation floating about. I’m confident that , limited or not , far fewer items have been sold than the edition numbers indicate." Let me add to the misinformation. I agree with you 100%. There are alot of homies involved in the whole Banksy team and privacy comes with a price. IHow would you feel feel if you came up with a homie and helping him with all his "art" then one day hes ultra millionaire while your still making min wage. you work for him and he pays you a basic income + art as a bonus with the understanding that you may sell the art to a auction house or on the open market. In a way, BBAY is a way of taking care of the homies. Everyone eats.and no homies is left behind. Besides, who would you rather work with and supoport, your homies, or some BS auction house that doesnt care or look out for you. this is no diffrent then if your a sneakerhead and have the hommies on the inside.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by Spenie on Jun 3, 2020 0:10:39 GMT 1, is the bbay even happening? Yes, from what I have heard it will be a secondary marketplace for people looking to sell Banksy items that Pest Control deems authentic. To me that means people with really deep pockets can set super high max bids to weed out the common folks in the last seconds of every auction. I don't see many/any options for someone like me whose discretionary budget is less than $5,000 given the fact that things like Di-faced Tenners, exhibit posters, stickers, etc. would likely never be approved for sale by Pest Control. They could possibly do a timed release for a charity poster or something but I don't know how likely that is as it is meant to be a secondary market for existing owners to sell their items versus introducing new items ala GDP. No way, where did you hear that ?

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by mgrizz on Jun 3, 2020 4:06:57 GMT 1, Not sure where all the misinformation comes from but I can confirm that my order number and the item number on the tag are not the same. Not that it’s relevant other than to illustrate that there’s plenty of misinformation floating about. I’m confident that , limited or not , far fewer items have been sold than the edition numbers indicate. Creating an edition and selling the items are very different issues The artist can create 300 prints and choose to sell 50. They could sell the rest in a month or a decade or burn them all if they wanted do. Perhaps there is a point to me made to the market or simply a subversive joke to allow people to find out for themselves how many are there and perhaps the point is to see who pays what price for something not realising how rare or not an item is. Ultimately supply can be ramped up or down but I suspect the artist is making a wider point about value and supply/demand Based upon the numbers of posts on social media my guess , which is only that, would be that the edition sizes listed on GDP are utterly irrelevant to the amount of each item in circulation other than to say there would never be more than the total edition ever sold so there may be 600 Banksquiat but there may be 60. Open editions there could be millions or maybe only 1, now how does an auction house factor that in? Is that the point ? That's really bizarre - I won a set of the cushions and the tag number definitely corresponds to the order number (the one from the checkout link, not the one from the initial lottery submission). Is there anything your tag number corresponds to, or does it seem random?
I can also confirm that my tag number corresponds with my order number.
Don't mistake your initial invoice number as your order number, they're different.

I thought one of the purposes of the GDP venture was to give normal folk the chance to obtain pieces who are true admirers, to who a Banksy piece would normally be unobtainable without shelling out £20k / £30k, and Pest Control holding the COA was a way to stop people selling for huge profits.
It sounds like Pest Control are now going to let these buyers sell, so it's inevitable pieces will now end up in the hands of wealthy buyers, auction houses and galleries. Something I thought Banksy despised.
The whole GDP makes no sense.
It would have made more sense for GDP to have released a few items as open editions, a quick John Hancock from Banksy, he earns £500 / £1,000 to do what he likes (or donate it to who he likes), true fans are happy to own an authentic piece (and saves their F5 key from certain death), and no one profits from it, no need for Pest Control to hold onto the COA.

People are going to have a different view on what they think, what should be done etc.
Only one round has been played out, I wouldn't pay too much attention to what people 'think' is going to happen
I'd say what they are going to do is part of a pretty long game strategy (but I could be wrong)

It is all part of the marketing the brand spends A vast amount on to create the demand , without the secondary hype and frenzy the vip prints would not sell at source for £50-£75k Open or time editions could be made but would dilute the appeal With the amounts people are paying now for the banksquait sets the worth of any banksy product and sets the demand to buy in for investment

I was part of the lucky few to have won the Banksy BLACK Spray Can from the GrossDomesticProduct site. I received it in the post a week ago and I was wondering what the value of it is? I have scoured the internet, but not one person has sold it and I only managed to find 1 other person who has won one.
Cheers Akshyan

You’ll find a very wide range of values in this forum for numerous reasons, personal taste, no historic data on cans being sold due to it being a new piece & lastly the unknown entity of whether the ‘unlimited items’ are true to word or if it’s a play by Banksy & they are actually going to be few and far between (dramatically effecting the value). My advice would be to enjoy it for now, if needs must financially then reach out to a reputable auction house or art specialist within an established insurer to discuss value & your options of moving it on when that time comes.

The Banksy sign on the spray can is stamped or a real Banksy signature?

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by mikegood on Jun 3, 2020 14:01:25 GMT 1, Just a reminder to any lucky winners who have not received their item: CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDERS FREQUENTLY!
I talked directly to a winner who had not received his, checked his spam folder and still didn't see notice (spam typically removes content after 30 days or set intervals). He then reached out directly to Flight Logistics where they had his item waiting (for weeks if not months).

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by geminii on Jun 3, 2020 14:38:50 GMT 1, I’ve been watching this thread with interest over months. I was lucky enough to be offered the chance to buy a t shirt last August before GDP opened (longish, fairly boring story, totally legitimate and through PC) and never heard a thing again until about 10 days ago, when I was emailed to say they were nearly ready to ship. I’m still waiting for contact from the shipping company, so I’m assuming the reason they’re not out there yet is that people haven’t received them. I’ll be very interested to see how many there are in total when they are finally released, and what kind of authentication will exist. For me it’s maybe not entirely relevant as I have no intention of passing it on, ever, but obviously it would be good to know for insurance purposes. I went for the GWB heart pendant, and plan to have it framed in a Perspex box, on a mannequin torso. I’ll post photos when it all finally comes together - it’s only been 10 months so far!
I’ve been watching this thread with interest over months. BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by conrado on Jun 3, 2020 15:41:47 GMT 1, Not sure where all the misinformation comes from but I can confirm that my order number and the item number on the tag are not the same.
You won and received the cushions already? Thats odd still nothing over here. Would you mind sharing some photos?

How was possible they let you buy an GDP item in august (3 month before GDP opens)?
not that i don't trust you but usually they care a lot about discretion.
